Has anyone ordered from lightinthebox?

You have no protection(and they know it) as a buyer because you are buying something outside of the country you live in.0

I ordered two IP cameras totaling £261 but after I paid I asked when delivery date was due, they told me the items would not be delivered until I sent them (a) a photo of my passport including any inside pages (b) a photo of both sides of my credit/ debit card, this they explained was to confirm my identity.
This rang alarm bells in my head.... I contacted my bank and credit card company who confirmed payment had been made already.
I contacted lightinthebox.com who said these were international rules... what a load of bull..... I requested a refund and was assured I would get one, I have sent several emails but no reply.
my bank and visa say they are powerless to help as they have no way of reclaiming money from China.
This website should be avoided at all costs, it is very untrustworthy and the goods sold could be deemed as dangerous as they cannot be individually checked by UK trading standards.
I have lost £261 to this company, Please Please avoid at all costs.0 -
I have just been duped by this company. I ordered a wedding shrug and its sleeves were too short. I returned it and had to pay postage charges. They refunded my order and I ordered a longer sleeved shrug. When UPS came to deliver this one, they charged me an extra £19 customs and delivery charge! Then I received another invoice through the post from UPS for another £14 charge. Lightinthebox did not at any stage make these likely charges clear. I will never use them again and suggest you find a UK supplier for your orders instead!0

LIAB is a Chinese company based in China. Goods which you buy are more often than not subject to import duty. That's not a new thing at all so I'm surprised at how many people seem to think this is unfair or not obvious. This isn't the fault of the company. This is something the UK government are charging.
I often use this website: http://www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation/ to work out what the real 'cost' to me would be for anything I am importing/buying.
Hope that helps someone0 -
Please listen , this company is not honourable at all, excessive delay, with every mail being returned as yes we will resolve in 4-5 business days, then accounts back log 2-3 business days, sorry for inconvenience heres USD10 off next purchase.. even though I have said I want just a refund but yet more delays...

All previous boards on this have had mixed reviews with the majority of the posters saying avoid them.:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120

Avoid them. I received terrible quality curtains and cannot return them because customer services 'do not see any issues with the quality' from the pictures I sent.0

I just got the wedding dress I ordered from them. I had very low expectations in light of what I had read and the fact that it was just over £120, but it arrived today and I could have hoped for anything better. It is exactly like the picture and fits me perfectly (I paid the extra to have it made to measure). The fabric is good, the dress is heavy, the details are well done. The only slight unfortunate bit is that there is a very small nail scratch at the front. You can't see it unless you have your eyes on it, but I have and I know it is there!
Delivery was perfectly on time and to make it even better, I have paid no export tax on it. I am really pleased with it. PS: No I don't work for them or have anything to do with themAs a matter of fact, when I first ordered, I thought they were an English company!
It is this one:

Looking at the picture again, I even think it is nicer in real (because I went for Ivory rather than white!)0 -

TBdress VS lightinthebox0 -
I've just ordered a made to measure evening dress from Light In The Box. Paid with Paypal so if it all goes wrong I can hopefully submit a charge back.
All of the negative comments on here I think are by spam bots as they've only posted on this thread, and their grammar and spelling are really bad, and doesn't make much sense!
Anyway, I can afford to take a gamble with one of their dresses, and I own a sewing machine so can do alterations if I need to. I am also aware that I might have to paid import charges when it arrives. If you can't afford to lose this sort of money then go to Monsoon.
I will post when it arrives.0
