The route in IE is: click on Tools > Internet Options - You should then have a pop up box appear.
Goto the 'Programs' tab, then 2nd down in the list it mentions 'E-mail' - this is where I have Microsoft Office Outlook selected but you can select Windows Live Mail from the drop down to select this instead Thanks for any help!
I've got vista and IE7 and it doesn't appear to be the same as 2nd in the list on the programs tab is 'manage add ons' and no drop down boxes for anything so maybe it's different for vista? But if you click on the start button of your desktop (in vista) then you will see 'default programs' as an option pop up on the side, is that what the IE way takes you to anyway?
i've already got hotmail as my default but can't quite remember what i did hehe.0 -

Thanks x
Yeps that is one of the other options on the dropdown menu that I hadAlthough it sounds as if Vista might change the goal posts slightly! I use IE7 in WinXP Pro & it is on my list of options.
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
50+with my puter(vista) i have windows mail and i synched my gmail, to pick up my tiscali email and send it all to windows mail, so i get the beep when mail hits windows mail, and have to just click on an email addy for windows mail to open, this has made my comping especially email comps very speedy. xxx#JusticeForGrenfell0

KittyPryde - thanks so much for letting me know. I'm not talking about the default programs that you access via the Start button, I'm talking about options within IE that you can select.
I just had a bit of a Google around & found this - does this ring any bells as to what you did, can you remember? As this seems a bit complex (although I've heard that Vista can be a bit unwieldy!) It looks like there is a piece of software that is downloaded to add hotmail to the list of options available then you can set it to default using the Start button & also then within IE?Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? 50+Ok VG, some more info on firefox/email program on the Mozilla site here:
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Changing+the+e-mail+program+used+by+Firefox#Setting_Firefox_s_mail_clientNote: Firefox 3 only comes with Yahoo! Mail as an option by default. You may add other services when they add support for this Firefox 3 feature.
If the webmail service you want to use is not available in the Applications panel of the Options window, you can use an extension to add support to your webmail services:- This Addons.Mozilla.org search for mailto lists several extensions that may be suitable for different webmail services.
:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -
