Good afternoon :hello:
Glad you are feeling better today Penny_Pincher - sorry about your poor friend though.
sammyjig - I hope Dave had been seen by a doctor by the time you got there! ((((HUGS))))
Catowen - hope you are okay, we all miss you!
Fluffybishop - welcome!
Mioliere and the others who are knitting atm - what are these "boobs" you're making?
Money saving Diva Glad to hear Treacle seems okay now.
Churchmouse - what a shame we didn't spot each other at Bluewater!
Scuzz - I don't expect you'll read this post, but have a great holiday!
Marie - your DGD is obviously very bright! Glad you're enjoying looking after her.
Taplady - Glad the water's gone down!
Has anyone heard from Shez? Is she on holiday? I hope she's okay.
DH and I got up quite late today - I woke at 10 o'clock and he was even later! We seem to have been rushing around doing things ever since coming back from our holiday in June, and I think it was the first time we'd really relaxed. I don't think there's anything particular going on this week, except that I'm looking after DGD on Monday morning and then we'll be shopping for new shoes for DGS in the afternoon. Thankfully he's got over his terror of having his feet measured! Then on Thursday morning we're going to the first session of the "Living with Type 2 Diabetes" course, which should be interesting and a great help.
Hope everyone has a good evening.
Best wishes

Afternoon!
Squiggly - try the Millie's Cookies recipe on the first page of the grocery challege, so long as you leave them exactly 11 mins (think that's right!) they come out perfectly! Almond essence and raisins is my fave!
Kathy - pmsl! That'll teach me good and proper about following ols style advice! Will be watching the EDC instead now I guess! Never mind, my friends think I'm daft anyway!
Scuzz - happy hols!
Silvercharming - good luck with the Avon stuff, I loved the Avon lady I had when I first had my son, she recommended toddler groups, dispensed good advice and basically was a lifesaver when I'd moved to a new area yet again and had no friends with babies! Oh and about your mil - thought you meant she'd found an entire rat when I read your first post, I felt quite feint! Still a twig isn't really a good thing to find!
Marie - take up your dil's offer, sure she wouldn't have invited you if she didn't mean it, glad your mum was able to chat to you and is being spoilt and hope your ds and dil get home safe.
Took dd's into town, got the needed umbrellas and some new flasks in poundland, they are all keen to take hot choc or soup into school with them, wish I knew where the old flasks had gone though! Still these are the metal ones with no glass, so a pretty good bargain. Got dd3 some nice Clarkes shoes, she had some others that we bought in the hols, just cheap ones but she loooooved them! Anyway her feet grew, so decided that we would get my choice this time! dd2 has a sleepover at a friend's tonight, so we bought the required birthday pressie, a me to you teddy - what a lot of money and then the shop's card machine was broken! Found some little bits and bobs in my boots boxes to add to it, so a bag full of goodies, sure she'll be very pleased.
Just waiting for the rerun of the hairy bakers to come on in a bit, think ds said it was about pies, so looking forward to it - I'm not sure all this excitement in my life is good for me!!!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Hi everyone, am really late on here today. I have made apple crumble for tomorrow and an apple tart. DH and I had soup and sandwiches for lunch, both homemade well the soup and the bread not the sandwich filling:) and i have a few loads of washing hanging outside to dry. It is cold and windy but dry at the moment. Will be tidying up in kitchen soon and after tea I am going to have a lovely soak in the bath get into my jammies, and relax with knitting or one of my books. Early night I think for me as I feel very tired this week. DH has booked the big fight on sky box office and Casualty isn't on tv tonight:( so will go to bed early.) Ironing to do nearly forgot, but will do it after bath. Have a good weekend everyone.Do a little kindness every day.;)0

Just popped in to say I've had a laugh at what people's kids wanted to be when they grew up - my son wanted to be a god
. He was at a Catholic primary and the teacher just put a question mark beside it

So did we all! Boy, is she having to do some backtracking now! I rarely say 'serves you right' but actually I think she's got a lot of explaining to do to a lot of people - she told the whole world - and she's only got herself to blame. And a twig isn't a good thing to find, but it's not the same as finding a dead rat in your pie, is it?!
About the Avon, well, part of why I decided to do it was to get out more and get to know some of the people who live round here. Don't get me wrong, the old 'uns on my street are lovely, but it will be nice to know people my own age close by. All of my other friends live in different towns and with all of them having kiddies and none of us driving it is difficult, and we end up relying on the OHs a lot.
wmf :rotfl:kids are great - part of the reason I could never have them is that I could never keep a straight face! Ooh ooh ooh what did you want to be when you were little? I wanted to be a farmer.0 -
Silvercharming, I've found that it's been ok if I start the drill quite slowly (that's mainly cos I've been worried about what I'll end up doing otherwise!).
MSDiva, lol at you singing that medley. Of course it's now going round in my head, so I shall no doubt be humming it.... Sounds like the sleep was well needed though.
Mummysaver, thank you, I ADORE millie's cookies. So disappointed they don't do the ginger one anymore

Hi all
The first 3 days of school have gone ok. My new class are slowly coming round to my sense of humour
. They are mostly quite sweet, but I'm sure that they have a propensity to be the other end of the spectrum.
I've been to Milton Keynes today with a friend who is going to be spending 3 months volunteering at a National Trust property in their gardening department. We e-mail each other weekly with the trials and tribulations of our lives, but for 3 months it'll have to be writing letters.
DH is revising for another IT exam this week, but he is going to be cooking steak for our supper tonight as a friend at school gave me a jar of Monkey Gland Sauce which she brought back for me from South Africa! We had loads of it when we were on holiday there 4 years ago! Yum!
troo - great news about your cards :j :j

Evening all
Well it stayed dry here just about long enough to get most of my washing dry
. Took DS out this afternoon to meet friends at a children's play area.
Had a real comfort tea this evening, baked beans, topped with mashed potatoe and cheese and baked in the oven, served with cabbage from the allotment, Yum! Yum! Also picked a basin on tomatoes and a red chilli! Plus loads of rhubarb to make crumble with.
Have been on to Suttons website and ordered some seeds for next year. They also do a very good planting guide (what to put in when), so have printed out that for refernece.
SAMMYJIG meant to say earlier hope your OH is better soon.
SILVERCHARMING you can stop the drill moving around by leaning into it slightly and bracing yourself. OOOOhhhh sounds a bit rude!
Off to tidy up the kitchen and sort the washing out. OH is going to work soon, so I intend an early night with a good book.
Have a good evening all

Ivyleaf - the BOOBS we are knitting are used for various things, mainly to teach mothers how to breast feed a baby. They are also used sometimes for breast cancer ladies who have had a mastectomy, as some are allergic to the conventional prosthetics.
NOW the ones we are doing at the moment, are very special, we are entering them in a competion, called "Pimp My Boob" run through a site we are all members of. We have to knit the boob, stuff it then pimp it any way we like, I have made a dogs face on mine, what Kathy is doing is to be revealed later;) Then we name it, send it off to the site to be judged, then they will all be auctioned off for breast cancer.
That was a long one, I hope I've explained it properly
Off for a :coffee: now see you all later
Anne
