OS Daily thread - Saturday 6th Sept

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all!
Woken by the OH and not the cat this time! However the end result is the same; me making a pot of redbush tea and sitting in front of here, eyes glazed, trying to catch up on all the posts I missed today!
I have just about skimmed through yesterdays thread so thank yoy to Squiggly, Kaat and Sybil for the kind comments re fattius Cattius (or treacle as she is usually called). So far so good, no other fits.
Sybil I was very touched by your paragraph about your mother and I do understand more than you know.
Well, I am going to finish this pot of tea while I deal with some emails - I hope you all have a great Saturday morning and I will pop in again once the day really begins.
*Hugs* to anyone who needs one and Congratulations to anyone who is celebrating today:beer:

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.
If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...
Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.

Morning moneysavingdiva and everyone who follows  well, I haven't actually left work all night and I'm going to be stuck here for a good few hours yet, so I thought I'd say hi at this unearthly hour!

So far I have:
Learnt it's impossible to sleep on a spinny office chair :rotfl::rotfl:
Realised that my boss keeps very odd hours and does very odd things at night (he left at 3 am).
Realised that the quality of my spelling and writing deteriorates with time
Started to understand why being up for 38hrs straight isn't fun as the floor starts moving on its own
Learnt that caffiene is not the answer
...disappears off to change avatar
Still, I hope to be out before midday
I spent two hours of last night dealing with a very stressed colleague
Still, I hope she's feeling better now, poor thing. My boss can be such an unpleasent piece of work sometimes.
It's windy here but not raining, which is a good thing. I have to go home and sort the washing out and put some stuff in the slow cooker, which is certainly earning it's keep because I'm so busy! I picked up some nice reduced chicken and sausages yesterday, so I should really do something with them.
taplady - glad your DS got home okay
wannabe sybil - ((hug)) for you
Kaat lady - I think it is the 11th sept - I saw it advertised online somewhere
Have a good day all everyone, cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Morning MSD and Celyn and all who follow!
Am just off to work - DH has phoned to say the roads are ok which is a relief. I'll be ok as long as we dont get rain like yesterday again. DS1 decided to drive home at the last minute after being told of a different way that was ok and he got back safely thank goodness.
(((hugs))) to those in need - will catch up with you all tonight!
Catowen - hope you and your children are ok x
Mrs_Mix - hope you continue to feel better xDo what you love :happyhear0 -

Weather is pants here, very soggy but thankfully no floods. Got 2 things on freecycle that hopefully will be picked up today and I can have my shed back again.
Well must get a shower and then get going.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Good Morning All
Celyn - hope you get some sleep.
Sunny here at the moment but very damp, DS has footie training this morning and will definately come home very muddy. I am going over there with him, our team needs new kit it is falling apart all the subs have been paid and we have a new sponsor so dont know why we havnt the kit yet. Will ask today, there have been funny rumours about the club and money going around - dont like things like that.
Apart from that its washing today, hope to get some of it dry outside.
Chicken and cheesy pots for tea.
Have a great saturday.

Morning all
Hubby & BIL have gone to work, the are working on a school in London & are tryin to get it done whilst there are no kids around.
I'm sat here with my 3rd cuppa, trying to sooth my sore throat, it always takes a few days for my throat to acclimatise to working in a chemical fug.
Ivyleaf, I'm 57 in November & I think it will take the head at least that long to turn our school paperless, there is more admin work than the rest of the staff can cope with, so hopefully I will be able to slide across in to another job. Hubby, by the way is a mere baby at 52.
I'll do some washing soon, though no chance of hanging it outside & I have a huge bag of cooking apples to prepare, so that will keep me busy today.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Morning :hello:
Taplady, your posts yesterday had memories of last year flooding back (pun absolutely intended
). Glad you're all ok.
The woman in the gift shop liked my cards :T We agreed that I'd pop in once a month to restock (and invoice - YAY money lol), she'll call me in between if they get low and I'll drop off extra.
I've been putting the heating on for half an hour in the mornings, master troo jumps in the shower at 6am and it's so cold at that time of the morning.
Managed to get a few blackberries and elderberries, there's loads on the bushes/trees but most seem to be rotting before they're ripe
Mr troo cleaned out the animals last night, so that's saved me a job
WM is on for the bedding, I'll handwash the rest. Just hope I can get it all dry  I am a coffee bean0 -
Morning all,
glimpses of blue sky outside again, wonder if I might get some sheets out on the line - and dry - if I wash them?!?
Celyn sounds like a marathon stint at work - I'd start on chocolate now if caffeine has stopped being effective
It also seems as if there's a lot of workplace bullying going on where you are....
I hope your boss isn't allowed to just carry on doing it.
Taplady, glad your DS got home ok in the end. I was watching more on the news last night & it looks horrendous up there
MSDiva, pleased Treacle is ok too.
Not much else to add at the moment, oldest 2 DD's going into town (it was going to be together but think they have bickered about something again, so could be separately now), so just me & youngest. Not sure what we'll do, maybe just pottering at home. Must go & peer at the freezer/cupboards to decide what to cook for dinner later...
((((((((hugs))))))) for all those needing them, have a good day all.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)

Morning everyone :j
Pouring with rain, and blowing a gail today
I've just bought DH's present for his 40th birthday (it's not till December - but I can well do with out the expense in that month
) Anyway I think he's having a midlife crisis as he asked for........ an electric guitar and amp  He can't play - thinks he's going to teach himself  I suppose you're only 40 once!!
Lots of ironing/washing/cleaning to get done today. Need to put a loaf on in the BM and tea tonight will probably be HM pizza.
Have a great day everyone.Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
We have SUN! :j Might not last long, but a bit is better than none!
Off to town soon, SIL taking me & baby so she's got my car seat as she's agreed to have him this afternoon whilst I work. DH & DS doing a job, so can't watch him. I work as a deputy registrar, helping to marry people, such a nice job!
Made Twink's Hob Nobs last night & we ate nearly a dozen before they even got into the biscuit tin - may regret having found this recipe!
Clothes will have to go on airer or in dryer, even though I'm not supposed to be using it. Managed to plan out some designs for Christmas cards, so will be able to crack on tonight
Will try & logon again later - hope you all have a good day! :lovethoug

Morning folks
Bright and sunny here with a cool feel to the air. I love it like this and have the windows and back door open. Hope we're not in for any more rain though. ((((Hugs)))) to those affected by the rain this week.
Have decided to try a diet for PMT but am faILING AT THE ATTEMPT TO CUT OUT SUGAR AND ALCOHOL - ooops didn't know caps had gone on but I think it is quite fitting to leave it as 'shouting'
. Had a well deserved glass of wine last night and then put a yum yum drop of brandy in my hot chocolate before bed
. Oh yes, chocolate wasn't really mentioned as a positive food either, it's things like bananas, nuts, turkey - brain gone blank just now. Anyway, we'll see how it goes but |I don't expect I am giving it a fair trial with sugar in my tea - it's just
without it.
Fish, new pots and some salad for tea tonight so that will be easy. DSS has footie match this afternoon so might go along with DH to watch.
Off to read through the last few days and try to catch up
Take care all
