I'm trying to get my house ready for her coming at Christmas. I'm at that stage where I have so much to do that I'm just looking at it and doing nothing as I'm feeling overwhelmed

Hope everyone is well x
I get that feeling every Christmas and I don't even have that much to do. I've decided to change my name to Bah Humbug by deed poll.
Glad everything's going ok - as they say, no news is good news.
(Apologies in advance if I have to hijack your thread again the next time it all goes pear shaped)All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Superpup, good to hear things are gradually being sorted out. Sounds like she soon won't have a bed to sleep in or a cup to drink out of

Thanks Errata
Ha ha, that's what worries me a bit. Just about every plate, bowl and cup she uses has a chip/crack/chunk but she has given all the good stuff away
I won't be sorry to see the back of the beds upstairs. One of them is so old, if 2 people sleep in it, they roll into the middle :rotfl:0 -

Oh, elsien, don't be a grump
I really like Christmas. I just get cross with myself that I'm so disorganised. Every year I make lists and plan meticulously (I lurve lists!) and then halfway through it all goes to pot.
No need to apologise, you helped me loads, so you hijack all you like (but I hope it doesn't go pear shaped for you).0 -
If she would like to meet people in your area when she moves, there is a scheme run by contact the elderly whereby 1 sunday a month the elderly person is picked up and taken to someones home with a lot of other people in a similar situation, they have a tea party/dinner or something and get to chat to people of a similar age and are then taken home.
This may be something that she could sign up for and it would also give you a break from worrying for a few hours.
Good luck its great what you are doing.Sealed pot challenge - £400 no.4910 -
Hi superpup, have just read all the posts about your Grandmother, and would like to add that I truly think you are a lovely warm kindhearted person, and I am so glad you and she have each other. It does my heart good to read of all the lovely kind folk in the world when there is so much crime and other bad stuff going on out there, in our world. God bless you all, and you have had such wonderful advice from kind people on here, so could not add anything to what they had suggested. Best wishes to you both and your daughter too.xx my Grandparents sadly have all passed away but I have such fond memories of them, and it is lovely to be able to help them, when they have been so kind to us.Do a little kindness every day.;)0

Liz - that sounds good thank you,I will look into it.
Thanks Margaret
The personI am is partly due to my Grandparents as they were quite involved in my upbringing asI spent so much time with them whenI was growing up. Thank you for your good wishes. I'm glad you have some great memories too.
There is a lot of horrible stuff going on everywhere but there is loads and loads of good stuff too butI don't think we hear about a lot of it. People on here have been brilliant
Tich - have replied to your pm, thanks

Grandma has some private letters from my grandfather ( who died years ago) which she want to hang onto as long as she can, but doesn't want anyone else to read. She's torn between whether to burn them now while she's still compos mentis, but then runs the risk of keeping fit and healthy(ish) for years to come, and regretting that she did it too soon. Lifes a beggar sometimes.
She could but them in a safe that only she knows the code to? You can promise that when she dies you will dump the safe?

Would she accept your word that when she passes on herself you would destroy the letters for her?Thanx
