hi sarah - dont you find it awkward with a halloween birthday as I want to go all out on both and the day has to be shared
DS normally has a halloween themed party but he's bored of that this year and wants laser quest.
well, cleaned out cupboard of doom part 2 and drawer of doom. I now have 2 cupboards of joy and a drawer of happiness:). Also changed lightbulbs and decluttered the boys toys in the living room which was sooo satisfying. Its amazing how many bin bags ful of crap you get rid off when decluttering - its so theraputic but just how much rubbish did we have lying around the house!! Also went on a lovely autumn walk and took kids shopping for halloween costumes/halloweeny bits so have had a lovely day.
just about to reward myself with a chinese and the x factor. Sooo wish I could have a nice glass of wine with that but will ahve to make do with lemonade.

Getting there with the presents now: Made up a story about going to the cinema with the bairn so that after the cinema I could go and get those hot water bottles from primark. Which I did after an hour and fifteen 15mins watching Igor (torture)! Actually it wasn't that bad I just wasn't in the mood.
So by friday I want to have done the following ten things (and I'm going to take piccies too to put the pressure on).
1.Tackle the cupboard under the stairs
2.Tackle the spare bedroom (which includes all my craft stash)
(should of done the above this week but have been busy)
3.Declutter bedroom drawers and wardrobes
4.Start writing out christmas cards
5.Make 10 christmas cards
6.Try out rocky road recipe
7.Make one meal for freezer
8.Make wooden spoon nativity
9.Start wedding scrabook for sis in laws christmas present
10.Tidy and clean the car
And also it's kitchen week so I'll be doing all that too alongside. Now it's in a list I hope it helps me to get it done!
Here's a bargain - smirnoff vodka(huge bottle) for £8 in tesco the other day, it's usually £12.00something. I bought a friend a shot game for 50p BNIB with price tag of £6 still on box, at a car boot so now I have that to go with and that's that person done. So the presents go together which is great cos I really had run out of ideas for that person. Should of been £18something
got for £8.50 - saved £10.00 - fab. Had set aside £10 but it looks like I've spent more than that now - ha ha, love mse'ing, may still get said person a couple of £1 pressies just to bulk up their gift bag0 -
First post on this thead.
Xmas is a short shoe-string this year so started early and for my first xmas on a very tight budget...... Im thoroughly enjoying it! I'm getting so much more satisfaction from expensive looking bargans and homemades!
Lots to buy for- I'm one of 6 siblings, DH is one of 4, plus both parents, husbands/wives and 2 nephews. I also buy for two couples so-
Dad - have had his book self-published on Lulu for £17.99 inc P&P (they take paypal so used survey money!)
Sister 1 - No 7 make up box rrp £15 for £3 and a photodiary from Photobox
Mum - Photodiary as above
** Geting these diaries BOGOF until 21st Oct!
Sister 2 - bath/body hamper being made up as I go along with soaps and smellies.
Brother 1 wants some glasss for his new flat
Brother 2 I don't buy for or him me (lives elsewhere) but we send very funky cards instead
Brother 3 & wife - joint pressy - not sure what
My 5 brother in laws on DH's side all are having stocking- Asda did a fab offer last year order wine 5 bottles for £8 so they will get a bottle in, chocs, and home bargain goodies
My In-laws - no idea - we dont get on, very strained 6 months and I havent seen them in months so will have to tread carefully as DH is now building bridges
2 friends who are couples are getting movie hampers - a bottle, £10 movie voucher / hmv voucher etc (earned through Shop&Scan), popcorn, chocs, candles for a "Romantic night in".
DH & I ar being sensible and getting token gifts ie I want a diary - he'sgot a personalised calendar (Got free on an offer (expired)- just P&P) and Im getting a new phone contractwith a different providor soa getting one withthe free wii or similar for his biggy pressy and Im going away for a day and night in Jan so am taking that as my "gift" as its going to cost approx £90 although will put as much as I can towards it. We'll try and treat each other in the sales oh and he is getting a mag subscription with tesco deals (Pc mag)
DS is 2 and is being spoilt rotten by everyone else so we arent going crazy but with this forum and others like it he'll not want!
Definitely getting there have vouchers to come, survey money etc.
Feeling very organised and festive!MSE-ing since 20070 -

My ticklist to date:
Gutted all cupboards and drawers
Ordered wrap and stickers so I start wrapping and putting away gifts
Need to clear under our bed which is prime storage
Get hubby to bring "Xmas Box" from the shed in for inspection so I can see what works/doesn't and what we need (new house this year so have to work out what is going where)
Get sign for front door that reads "Please use back door" like everyone else has as Xmas tree going by front door, and a house number on back door!
Do my xmas card list - am sending as many virtual ones this year to save paper (and stamps!).
Need a christmassy tablecloth.
Thats as far as I've got so far!MSE-ing since 20070
