I love christmas and I agree, it is nice to share and talk with some people who are as passionate as me about it and want to do the plan. I made the mistake of emptying a cupboard today.. WHOAH.. how much can you fit in ONE cupboard??
I have never ever had a real tree. How criminal is that!!
I was just going through last years photographs when I saw this one.. this is the moment I ran into the living room ahead of the kids to capture what they was about to come in to...
Now.. if that doesn't make you feel all warm inside and christmassy what does
I have filled in the family values sheet and determined that this year I want to:
+ Get the children what they really want. Take them to toy shops to research what they play with. Don't get things just because they are bargains.
+ Not put so much stress on myself on christmas day by visiting everyone and rushing about. They never appreciate it.
+ Set aside some time so I can bake with my husband. We love cooking together and last year we ran out of time to do any.
This year will be my first christmas in years where I haven't been pregnant or running after a baby. I wouldn't change a thing but I am so excited to enjoy it as a family and a mom, not just a run around.
i dont have much choice about changing the room round its the only way to fit the tree in lol
my menu for christmas eve is kinda complicated there is a choice of 2 for adults and choice of 2 for children. so everybody gets a choice of which one they want.
however i dont cook enough of everything for everyone i send a little card in the invite so when they rsvp they send that back too there is also space to add details on like please can i have xxx instead of yyy and this is for adults and children.
i warned you it was mad lol
but here are the choices
menu 1
starter
Pear with Roquefort, Rocket and Pickled walnuts
main
Chicken and Wild Mushroom En papillote with Butterbean and Tarragon Mash
dessert

SugarSpun, You sound so organised and with your Christmas I can see why too! Your list was really useful to me as it contained a lot of reminders of things to do! I wish I had already but most of my gifts.. I don't even know what I have already!
LOL it's true, I'm really lucky in that there's no cleaning to be done and the decorations are always already up when I get there.
I always make breakfast on Christmas morning, we have eggs benedict with smoked salmon instead of bacon, and fresh orange juice. So I organise all those bits, and I buy the wine. It's a harder job that it seems because we all have very different notions of good wine - my mother is happy with the £2 stuff from Aldi, whereas I wouldn't even use that to clean my toilet because it TASTES OF BURNING. Getting her to leave a bottle to breathe is all but impossible! :rotfl: I'm breaking out my good stuff for Christmas this year, I have a Fleurie for Christmas dinner already, and I'm going to buy some prosecco, an Eiswein and some Beaujolais Nouveau for the rest of the celebrations.

Hi everyone, I am loving this thread and I too would love to join.
My OH hates Xmas, hes a miserable old humbug! so everything is left to me which is good as I love it! So I am now going through the planner to see what I need to do. I have also just gone through my cupboard where I stashed all of my sale goodies and it seems I have about 30 different scented candles!! Oh dear what I am going to do with them?? Definitly need to get organised so this doesnt happen again.

christmas is:eek:
and I want it to be:snow_laug _party_ :heartsmil :j :j
I so need this - had a look at organised christmas before and couldn't grasp what was going on - but I've read what you were saying on here and now get it totally - so count me in please.
Last year I set out to be organised and ended up still shopping with a 2yr old the week before christmas - and still wrapping my hampers up at midnight on christmas eve and getting into a right paddy with them therefore causing arguments with DH. I was sea salting turkey and pork at 1 in the morning:eek: .
It was a lovely christmas but I was very tired, I so love that the holiday grand plan means everything is done way before the actual day so you have time to relax and enjoy this time of year.
Also I am a christmas obsessed addict and I think some people are getting sick of hearing about it so I need somewhere to talk about it or I'll go... .
Am off to bed in a minute to make some lists and try and catch up on list week so I can start question week this week...also to re-write some of my lists I started already as they are unreadable, even to me- LOL.
YAY Christmas, I've had a countdown on my google page since new years day!!!!!
Have done the organised christmas thing for the past few years and it makes life sooooooooooooo much easier. I don't start the pressi list now, I start it in January, I have a notebook with 1/2 pages dedicated to each person and everytime I have an idea or they mention something, it gets written down.
I'm a week behind too (for some reason when I put the weeks into my calender I started with this weekend instead of last weekend,) oh well there's plenty of catch-up weeks at the end so it shouldn't make to much difference.
Got all my mags out that I bought last year and have pretty much decided on dinner (Duck) and start making my cards next week.
I'm plzed with myself got mums bday present, (have to say thank god for sales!), went into town, brought her a winters coat from Ann Harvey, I dread to think what the proper price was, reduced to £45.00, then dd found a lilac top for nana (again sales - Im teaching her well!), reduced from £40 to £10. So just a few odds and sods for mum. - think that could be Boots
Dad - he was 70 in July, what do you want 4 ur bday, nothing, the reason we were going upto Wales for the week. You have to have a present........his answer, box of sweets.........so we took him at his word literally and brought him 70 packets of the 10p haribo sweets, but he did have a 2hr rally experience as his main prezzie. I know he would like a hot air ballon trip, (hes had 2 already), but there £150 a bit out of budget. xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
