Hi ashleyross
My husband is disabled and I have been on the waiting list for a bungalow for 5 years now and they think it will be forever before I get one so congratulations to you. I know how much it must mean to you.
I would use this as an oppurtunity to cleanse. Get tons of cardboard boxes and pack right now with every box labelled very clearly. Never underestimate how much stuff you have and how long it will take to pack. Whenever you put something into the box give it a clean and decide.. Do I need this? Shall I give it to charity or bin it? Be ruthless for a new life and less to deal with.
Pack all of the things you don't need first and then your boxes will be stacked in order so when you move into your new pleace you have boxes of things you really need to hand and those you don't can go in a room and forgot about for a bit.
The more you do the better you will feel about the situation and don't worry.. soon you will be relaxing in your new home that you need.

oh my goodness!! IT IS THICK SNOW HERE!! I am SOOOO elated.
The other night my little boy out of the blue asked if I could give him snow for christmas. He said it was all he wanted and he wanted to have it so much. He doesn't ever ask or want for anything and he is so sweet I can't describe how he makes me feel when he asks for something that I just can't give. I am so sad.. I actually welled up a little bit. It has snowed!! It is like someone just did this for me!!
All I want now is for some to be left tomorrow and I will be extremely happy:xmastree:Self Certified Christmas Addict:xmastree:0 -
Hi everyone, just a quick hello - not been on for a couple of days - very busy but I found this website which I think is very good - not just for inspiration but for some ladies here who've been asking about crafts I though it might be very useful (sorry if anyone posted this website before).

Forgot to add - I found it whilst searching for printable christmas cards - I love the ones with the dogs - great for a couple of my friends who are proper dog people :-) I am so pleased. Great.

ashleyross - don't panic think of it as an opportunity to get rid of stuff you don't want, write lists (i love lists) and generally have fun, you porabaly think i'm mad but i love moving, i moved 5 times in 3 years and i love it, got the urge to move now we have been in this house 3 years and thats far to long for me lol, start packing straight away and don't leave anything till the last minuet make a list of people you need to ring ie- phone, gas, electric, internet, ect the more notice you give them the better, i'm so excited for you and a little bit jealous
don't panic though it's an adventure!!!!!
pinkladymel - how strange is that has he seen the snow yet?

kalojac Thanks, Really looking forward to going away on monday, never been to Craig Tara before but it looks a lovely place and the kids are so excited, I think we will be going to the pool as soon as we get there the kids can't wait as they have seen the pictures.
RoxieW Love the Halloween Hamper Ideas, might pinch that for next year...(Too late now as we are going away)
jasmine from the north I've never tried Pumpkin Pie, I made a lovely cake last year with the Pumpkin Flesh everyone (Even the kids!!!) was wolfing it down it was only after they asked how i done it that they were shoked it had Pumpkin in it...I will dig the recipie out later and post. It truely was scrummy... and that says something as I'm terrible with cakes LOL
Well done to everyone your all doing so well, I only have a few more jobs on my list now, but just can't seem to be bothered  It rained most of the afternoon yesterday and was grey and miserable up here. I must get on today. Need to finish these jobs off as will have to do washing over the weekend and last of the sorting out for the holiday  It doesn't help that I'm going into town everyday to pick up the Free Lego for the boys stockings, Loosing 2 hours a day (Well thats my excuse).
Take care everyone

PS Don't forget the clocks go back this weekend
Hi Sarah - so I found the pumpkin pie recipe in the Asda free mag on p.9 so I though I have a look at their website as well and there is also a recipe for pumpkin cake - which is the one I decided to make :j.
For anyone interested here are the links: pumpkin cake and pumpkin pie
http://www.asda-recipes.co.uk/recipe/885.html
http://www.asda-recipes.co.uk/recipe/886.html
Although the pumpkin pie recipe on the web isn't the same as the one in the mag - this one is simpler but no picture :-( but I think I'll try to make it - plenty of pumpkins in the garden)
Oh and Sarah - how about your scrummy cake? Would you share please please :-)

Hi all
Just wanted to say I have replied to scattymums 24 craft thread but I want to do an advent activity each day, which may be a craft but may be something like choosing the Christmas Tree (always done the 1st Sat in Dec and all the family go and make a big fuss of choosing a very important tradition!). I think activities generally suit my family better as then the 4 of us can hopefully do them together esp as I have 10 and 7 year old girl and boy and they have different ideas about doing things!!!0 -
Snowing here too this evening
(Berks/surrey/hants border) and settling
Just woke my eldest DS up to let him peek out of the window, he's asked if we can build a snowman tomorrow - don't think theres quite that much!! (Middle DS had already seen when he went to the toilet!)Slightly worn out mum to 3 (DS1 May 03, DS2 Feb 05, DD1 Feb 08). When i grow up i think i'll become a UN Peace keeper....0 -
ok I want snow - this is not fair. I've kept quiet all night but can't keep quiet any more
I WANT SNOW!! God damn the salty maritime air!
on topic - have crossed another item off my list today
Just posted this below on a single thread (feel a bit guilty for taking up a whole new post but it seemed a good idea at the time!!) :
I love all the ideas of Christmas Eve hampers etc. but we have so many traditions, work do's, family outings etc. etc. that I never get round to doing half of the stuff I want to in December (even though all my presents are wrapped by early December!)
For the last 3 years I've been really run down and ill from about the 22nd December so last year in particular didn't get round to making my gingerbread men which made me really sad
So I was thinking about having a night with the family (the 5 of us) and pretending as though its a kind of Christmas day (you know that feeling when no one has to work the day after, we all have time for each other!) on the last weekend in November/first weekend in December.
I'm going to make a hamper type thing for everyone like the ones on the xmas eve hamper thread with Xmas DVDs, sweets, board games, some sort of pass the parcel (age range 27-80 so could be fun!!) xmas cd's and my gingerbread man and get us into the festive spirit for December, so the fun starts early hopefully before all the christmas illnesses and festive rush begins.
Just thought I'd post in case anyone else thought it was a good idea and fancied it too
:ABeing Thrifty Gifty again this year:A
