  • Yeah ff is 'free from' so no gluten/wheat. I'm guessing it can be used as a standard substitute for standard SR Flour in recipes.
Quiche is a good idea. Wonder if the base would work with SR flour instead of plain?

i make pastry base for a 9" pastry case with 8oz flour, 4 oz spread (into breadcrumbs) then use an egg to bind. I don't roll out, instead press into the quiche dish with my fingers. If i don't have plain flour i use SR. when lined i put a layer of foil or greaseproof in, fill with the contents of the spare change jar (lots of two pence pieces), and blind bake.

let me know how you get on with the ff if you give it a try.

  • What about a plain or cheese scone, you could either make individual ones or shape the mix into a round before baking which could then be either broken off in chunks or slices.

I make one that has mustard and cayenne pepper in it which can be a bit spicy, another is a cheese and olive scone which I find goes nicely with pasta in hm tomato sauce, when I don't have any crusty or garlic bread.

I did a search actually zippychick but for some reason nothing came up:think:

Just made a big batch of cheese scones (many thanks Need2bthrifty) and I shall be having a bash at poppy-glos's quiche later on in the week when I've got a bit of free cooking time. Will post back with the verdict

  • Hi,

I am hoping to make some marmalade for xmas hampers using Mamade but was hoping to add something else like cranberries or something to make it more festive, but not really sure how to do this? I've never made marmalade or anything like it before, hence the Mamade! lol

Any advise would be most welcome!

Thanks Nodwah, you've just reminded me to get some oranges to bring home to make marmalade.
  • Hi there...

I've made marmalade using the tinned Mamade and also using fresh oranges over the years...

    However, my question is...

I would like to 'shake things up a little' and given that I have a half used bottle of whiskey left over from a party and we dont drink it...I was gonna add it to the batch of mamalade I am making using tinned Homecook seville oranges from Lakeland...

I have perused the threads on here and understand that alcohol is best added just before bottling up...;)

I would like to add some fresh ginger too as I think it will be a good combination so does anyone have any advice on how/what/ how much/ when to add etc please?

    All help gratefully received!

    Many thanks folks!...

I have a glut of clementines, having bought a box in Aldi last weekend. We've eaten quite a few but I wondered about making some marmalade. Is it possible?

Sorry if this has been posted before - I've meandered through quite a few threads about uses for clementines and how to make marmalade but not found the answer.

I'll be using my slow cooker so any tips would be appreciated too.

    Thanks MSErs.
