here here. agree totally. Doesnt matter the whys and wherefores the situation is as it is now, and the boards are here to help people in there CURRENT situation.

What about the CURRENT situation of NR? Surely the have honoured their side of the deal, why shouldn't OP. They are down £4K through no fault of their own and you make no mention of it!!!!!

OMG - I'm just about to go bankrupt and the CAB said that my employer would only know if they read it in the paper!! Will my tax code change?

This is my first time today using these boards so if I have broken any etiquette in asking a question about me on someone elses post - let me know!!

    Thanks

Sorry but why shouldn't your employer know you are bankrupt? It is a matter of public record and rightly so.

Again, I am not saying their are not potential mitigating circumstances, violence/abuse leading to relationship break up for example, but YOU are not honouring an agreement and it is not the fault of you creditor.

Advice? Be honest, talk to your employer!!! Admit that YOU do not pay your debts and explain why.

    Insulting, unkind? Matter of opinion.

    Truth? Yes!!!!

    Irrelevant post.

Has the OP received any phone calls?

Has the OP had a 'life changing event'? Other than the fact that NR have caught up with her of course.

It would appear so if you took the time to read the posts in a thread

Neillgb - do you work for Northern Rock?

I have NOT sought to avoid my financial obligations

We got into terrible financial difficulty and were bombarded with letters and phone calls from our creditors which was making me ill with worry. I couldn't face opening another letter or talking to these people who do not offer any help or sympathy. They just bully us and want their money NOW. They tell us to move house, spend less on food and ridiculous things that no-one understands unless they are in this position themselves. I can't believe you think we have got into this state on purpose.

So that would make your post Irrelevant as all you wish to do is attack the OP not support her

So i think this describes you very well

Perhaps we should all have a public hanging hey???

Lets face it ... the fact that an individual is unable to pay back their debts has got nothing to do with that individuals relationship with their employer so .. thanks for the advice but I feel no inclination to discuss my financial affairs with my employer unless they decide to ask me about it.

Or did i dream that the govermant had to rescue the bank:rolleyes:

  • Don't get me started on the goverment ****up of NR.

Anyway where was I. Oh yes the jail bit you can't go to jail for debt like you did in the good old days (free food and lodgings cost the taxpayers too much, you can tell by the overcrowding that everyones desperate to get in lol), so that may be a reference to ignoring a court order.
When we had an AOE slapped on us jail was a risk if we ignored it as it was the evil council taxing ones.

Sorry, I forgot to note that people were asking for their money back. Shocking behaviour.

Why should I support her? The NR tried that and look where left them.

If paying your bills and not trying to hide the fact that if don't is TROLLISH then TROLL I be!! And proud of it.

Fair point if you are not in a position of trust with regards to money.

I am NOT suggesting you are dishonest. But , frankly, as a small business employer, it would be a serious consideration for me. If you employed somebody, in a position where finances were involved, wouldn't you want to know if they had financial issues?

Well if your employee was made BR then they have no financial issues so are no threat to you. Being in financial difficulties does not make you dishonest.

Anyway this is not the place to discuss the rights and wrongs of BR, Martin has stipulated that if you want to discuss it as you obviously do then you do so in the Discussion Time board. This board is for support not judgement.

Ok so which DCA or financial institution do you work for?

And did you stop to think that some people do a runner because they are UNLAWFULLY herrassed by such companys?

Have you ever been in financial difficulties and been subject to 20, 30 ,40 or even 50 phone calls a day, yet no matter what proof is supplied that you cant pay they continue anyway?

No i doubt it because your perfect i suppose, but it only takes one life changing event, usually beyond your control to change that.

    1. I work for myself, nothing to do with financial institutions.

    2. But they owe the money!!

    3. No, I pay my debts.

    4. Not perfect, like a beer. If I had a 'life changing event' I hope I would be able to confront any financial implications as opposed to running away and trying to hide the fact.
