Tesco...petrol profiteering ?????
Comments
-
It's interesting that around bank holiday the supermarkets brought down the price of petrol saying they were accounting for the reduced price of crude oil on the market and urged other petrol groups to do the same rather than profit from a falling price.
Since then the crude has continued to come down yet as soon as the english schools started back this week the supermarkets put up their petrol prices up by a penny - who's taking the profit now !!
It's bloody annoying to know we're being ripped off by the petrol companies. Three weeks ago the petrol around here went down to 108.9 per litre with a barrel of oil costing approximately $1.15. Yesterday they had the gall to put their prices up...the price of a barrel of oil had fell to $1.06 - a decrease of 8-9% A day after the AA had commented that we're already paying over the odds.:mad:0 -
Direct your anger at the level of tax on the fuel, not the price of the fuel.
And don't compare sterling with dollar prices, because its rather silly.0 -

There is a delay (3 weeks or so I think but IMBW) before changes in crude prices appear at the pumps.
As well as the ££/$$ issue which you've ignored in your analysis0 -

Oil is priced in $$ so the camparison is not silly. Often used to hear the price of petrol had to go up because the £ was weak against the dollar, haven't heard it lately as the dollar has been weak, i.e. $2/£ but now the pound is around $1:60 prepare for that excuse to be rolled out again, despite falling oil prices.
Agree about the tax though.0 -

So if that were true, how come only Tesco ( and other Supermarket fuel ) caused so much damage to so many customers cars about a year ago?
I have never used it since, nor will I in the future.
that was an issue NOT of Tesco's making.......and it was by chance that Tesco's fuel [and another] were contaminated...by the distributor, not the retailer....however, since it is the retailer that corrects the error, tesco carried the can....but it COULD have been Total...or Esso....or any other brand that bought fuel from that distributor.
Up here north of Birmingham, we have never had a fuel problem like that relatively isolated incident which solely affected drivers in the south-east of the country.....
and I suspect many of those affected were as much victims of current vehicle technology...it amazes me just how poorly modern cars cope with any adverse conditions.
but, if one wishes to cut off one's nose to spite, etc, crack on.No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

Because one batch from one refinery was faulty.
So because of that, you're going to judge the billions of litres a year that are sold without problem?0 -

That's the placebo effect.
In my 2004 Ford Mondeo 2L TDCi 130, I can get 62MPG out of Tesco/Asda and I can get 52MPG out of Shell/BP or I can get 62MPG out of Shell/BP and 52MPG out of Tesco/Asda. What does that prove? Sod all. I get the same no matter what I use.
Your muppet forum members are getting higher MPGs because they're subconciously altering their driving.
What magical content do you think is in "premium" diesel?0 -
