Tesco...petrol profiteering ?????

I wouldn't use Tesco Petrol if it was 10p a litre cheaper, I value my car too much.;)
Why?
I have a focus diesel with 100000 on the clock and has almost always had tesco diesel in it, with no problems.
The fuel all comes from the same tanks and ok they all add additives of some sort, but why is the shell additive (for example) any better than anyone elses, do you have proof that any one fuel is better than the next?0 -
The Petrol and Diesel provided by Tesco is indeed sourced from exactly the same storage Tanks that the like of Shell, for example use. However once the tanker has been filled at the depot with the appropriate amount of fuel additives are added depending on the customers specifications. This is where supermarket fuel differs as I imagine it contains less cleaning agents etc0

Also I am a member of a couple of Audi forums and many members who track their fuel have found it more economical to use premium diesel rather than the standard supermarket stuff due to the increased MPG given which more than compensates for the higher price per litre.0

" Why " .. because Tesco Fuel ruined a lot of peoples cars about a year ago, that's why.
I don't trust them.:rolleyes:0 -
Hit a note on this one, worked in the fuel trade industry for a long time now and price watch has gone on for a long time, this is where each garage rings around to see what each others price is then report in to there head office, then the price is ajusted accordingly, is this price fixing?
I'll let you decide but why hasn't trading standards done something about it? assuming they know

No it's not price fixing.
It's only price fixing if they collude on what prices they will charge0 -
What next? The corner shop for making a profit on milk and bread?0

It's interesting that around bank holiday the supermarkets brought down the price of petrol saying they were accounting for the reduced price of crude oil on the market and urged other petrol groups to do the same rather than profit from a falling price.
Since then the crude has continued to come down yet as soon as the english schools started back this week the supermarkets put up their petrol prices up by a penny - who's taking the profit now !!0 -
