Hi all,
I want to try and make some fresh crisps/chips to go with our chicken wraps tonight. I found the recipe for the wraps on netmums.
Is it just a case of peeling the potatoes, slicing thinly, frying in vegetable/olive oil and then draining on kitchen paper towels?
If anyone has tried this or knows how it's done please will you share your tips.
Many thanks.0 -

just making some home made crisps! Put some crushed chilli on them and theyre gorgeous. Would like to try the veg ones. Anyone know if they store overnight or do they lose their "crisp?"!"A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Ok....three failed attempts now....
trying to make my own homemade crisps.
I use my slicer thing to get them real thin, then have been trying to deep fry them in oil. Trying to get them golden brown.....but I think I am putting the heat up too high and they end up slighty burnt. Tried doing them in the microwave as well (yep, I know, googled a recipe and thought it was worth a stab). But they came out soggy....
Does anyone make there own home made crisps and can give me some tips/advice?
cheers!0 -
Here's a couple of threads
Home made crisps
And more
Root veg crisps
I don't have a deep fat fryer so have never tried that. When i make chips in the oven, sometimes i thinly slice some pots (and parboil just as chips), dry with tea towel and spray with fry light. Sprinkle rock salt or chilli or what ever, Yummy freshbut go soggy quickly. Also burn quickly so keep a close eye.;)
