ikea - customer service is a disgrace

Bought a complete kitchen including hob, IKEA took around four months to deliver all the items. Two boxes containing kitchen units were obviously damaged, which they eventually replaced; unfortunately the hob was also smashed inside its box, which didn't look damaged but must have been dropped. Sadly, by the time I discovered this it was more than six months from the date of purchase - and under the Sale of Goods Act you only have six months to examine the goods. Ikea are now saying I must have broken it myself, and are refusing to help whatsoever.
Avoid this bunch of careless, uncaring thieves like the plague.0 -

Actually, whoever told you that is wrong.
Before any of the trolls start spouting off at me, I have the case law right in front of me.
Fiat Auto Financial Services v Connolly [2007] S.L.T. (Sh Ct) 111.
It's a case which examines the extent of the buyer's rights of rejection under the SOGA which I won't bore you with, but here is the summary which is very pertinent indeed to your case:
A period spent by the buyer waiting for information to enable him to make an informed decision as to whether to reject, will not count when considering whether he has had the goods for more than a reasonable length of time without rejecting them.
(Actually, in the case concerned, the consumer sucessfully rejected a car after racking up 40,000 miles in it!)0 -
I've been to IKEA loads of times, and have never seen any assistants! I've never needed any help anyway. They have some good Sweedish meatballs though.0

Wow, I'm having trouble justifying my intention to spend a significant amount of money in Ikea for wardrobes and kitchen......
I've never had any problem with anything I bought from Ikea, ever. People on this forum will want compensation for anything under the sun, you have to take it all with a grain of salt and try things for yourself.0 -
I gave up when I wrote a complaint about my doors falling off my wardrobe after 2 months they sent me vouchers for their restaurant. I sent them back and said place them where the sun dont shine and never went there again!!!0

I've just received my ikea homecare statement
I was 2 days late paying off balance of £29.57 and am being charged £12.00 arrears fee
I rang them up to see if it can be waived but all their systems are down so told to call again in a couple of days
Couldnt resist saying something along the lines of it being ok to keep me waiting 2 days but if I'm late paying....
and I only took it with me for the free coffee and discount in restaurant, which you dont even get now with this card.........

Thats OK but it is a nightmare trying to find a central complaints email address. Could you post the email address so we can use it?
Cheers0 -
Have you sorted this yet?
I only ask because of the posted date, if not I have some manager email addresses.0 -
does anyone have an email address for complaints please? I'm having a nightmare with them. They have turned up 3 times to deliver something which when they get here they find is not on the van. I've had 3 days off work now and want to tell them how much I value their service!:mad:0
