GFN - I'm afraid the National Trust have just introduced car Parking charges at Devils Dyke. It's now only free if you are a NT member. I understand that if you spend £10 or more in the pub (which isn't owned by the NT) you can get you money back.
Some great ideas though.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

I'm not sure if the pub's own car park directly behind it is still free to patrons only or not.

Driving by Ditchling Beacon, stopped off in the car park to have a liitle walk & look at the view.Brighton_belle wrote: »GFN - I'm afraid the National Trust have just introduced car Parking charges at Devils Dyke. Returned to car park, then noticed virtuallly invisible sign "Have you Paid & Displayed", then noticed a man across car park emptying a payment machine.
Went for another 10 min little walk in opposite direction (hadn't bought P&D ticket), wondered whether I would have parking ticket on my return.
I guess paying for parking at Ditchling Beacon is quite new.
When I drove in, didn't notice anyrhing about having to pay for parking, didn't see any signs when I drove in, but I guess whoever runs it they don't want to spoil countryside & people's visit.0 -
john the car park at the top of Ditchling Beacon has been a pay & display for at least 2-3 years. The car park is owned by the NT. The one at the bottom is still free I believe...I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

Just found this but not sure how much the St James Street shop would stock as the Safeway was never huge http://www.morrisons.co.uk/Offers/working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

Yeah, I went to the Morrisons a little while ago looking for one of the deals being promoted on beer - but they weren't doing it.
On another note - does anyone know of anywhere to park without a permit up from the Western Road / Lansdowne/ Montpelier area where you don't have to visit the meter to top up every 4 hours? I don't have a car myself, but if any friends come to visit, it's a bit annoying to have to remember to top it up all the time. Nizells Avenue used to have an 11 hour stay, but they've now changed this. Suppose they could come by bus or train, but sometimes it is just not all that convenient. Especially if I'm trying to encourage them to take me grocery shopping! :A0
