Anyone know any free or very cheap entertainment around town ?

-Comedy, Music, Band nights at pubs/clubs/cafes, regular or one-off events.

    That sort of thing.

If you pick up a guide the Fringe festival (or all the listings are online too) there are quite a few interesting free things going on up till the end of May.

Not sure whereabouts you live in Brighton, but the Caroline of Brunswick by The Level is a fantastic pub, has regular comedy nights on Weds (£4 in advance) as well as music/DJ's at the weekends. It's a rock pub if that music appeals to you. Their website http://www.carolineofbrunswick.co.uk/ lists their events.

Or The Hub pub which is on the Vogue Gyratory, the big roundabout on Lewes Rd with Sainsburys and the BP petrol station, has a free open mic night for bands each Thursday.

Check out Upstairs at the Three and Ten
http://www.otherplaceproductions.co.uk/ It is a small venue above another nice pub behind St James St and they run lots of stuff as well.

Or if you are nearer Hove, The Sanctuary Cafe is another venue worth checking out.

    HTH :)

    Thanks
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Martletts sell 2nd hand electrical goods - like heated tongs, george foreman grills etc.

Know the martlett furniture warehouse is next to pc world on old shoreham road, or there's a shop in blatchington road - expect there must be more of them.

    www.communitysavings.co.uk

saw a big sheet of tear off vouchers in a local newsagent- half for restaurants / entertainment (sealife, cinema etc), the rest local shops.

various offers, most are 2for1's, subject to a minimum purchase (buy 1 meal, get 2nd free etc)

there is a mailing list on the site shown, as above, to get future offers?
i have not yet seen what comes of that!

NB: this seems to only cover Sussex..

B'belle- tried selling on your local gumtree.com site? I think any shop has to get 2nd hand items safety tested, which may costs more than it's worth.

BrightonBelle on Lewes road there is a charity shop near the Co-Op that has electrical items, they have an electrician check things over and then sell items in the shop, good value too.
