Branston Baked Beans 4 for £1 in £Land, Western Road, but be quick, you know what they're like.
2 days till A!di. I'm going to avoid the mad rush of pensioners and the like and go either Friday or Monday. Have you seen the size of the entrance doors? They're very narrow, if you're too wide or have a double buggy you've got no chance, and that's half their target market :rotfl:Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £81,810.42 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £180 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £176.79 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £1,406.55 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -

thats last of any sellable clutter, around my mansion.. lol
BTW- do I need to register for VAT etc, if just selling a few small items?
all these are £5 each, or £4 if you mention MSE!

briefcase
trolley
suitcase
novelty drinking hat
walking stick
£10 (£8 MSE) - 2x fan heaters
£15 (£12 MSE) - roller blinds (2 different ones)
all proceeds go to the B'man beer fund, so doing my bit for the local economy!Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

I have to admit after the anticipation of the new Ald! opening I was a bit disappointed in their goods. Nothing was really cheaper than my usual supermarket, and there wasn't a lot there. Although I did get some HSM choc rolls for the kids 6 for 59p which they love and the honey nut cornflakes are ok at 99p. The naan 2 for 59p are nice as well. But tinned toms and beans aren't any cheaper.
I don't like the fact there are no baskets only trolleys, albeit 2 sizes, obviously a ploy to make us fill them up and spend more, but it didn't work on me. :rotfl:Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £81,810.42 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £180 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £176.79 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £1,406.55 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -

Just ordered some more bus tickets online and they're now charging a flat fee of 40p. I know it's not much but, grrrr :mad:Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £81,810.42 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £180 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £176.79 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £1,406.55 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0

I don't think so really. Aldi is good but I can't see how anyone does their entire food shop there.
I think Iceland attracts a certain type of buyer (eh-hum - sorry to all you iceland shoppers) with lots of ready meal type things whereas Aldi only has a very limited choice of ready meal things really.
Plus somerfield offers a shop in there, and they deliver it home for you - Aldi's not likely to do that anytime soonworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

I often take a large bag for life and use it like a shopping basket as I go round and then just empty it at the tills. No one in Portslade Aldi has batted an eyelid over this
Their red pesto is lovely, and their biscuits are virtually as cheap as value range - but far nicer (I think).working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

and i thought internet shopping was meant to be CHEAPER than real life..?
I could get a dicounted day saver ticket, but I need to go into their lovely shop to buy one.. it's a long way, so i need to go by bus.. at full rate..

Will check out the lovely new Aldi store on our lovely London Road next week.
I hope they had a big opening ceremony.0 -
Re selling 2nd hand stuff, no need to register for VAT - you only register for VAT when you earn around £63k a year in turnover I think. Would love the wine rack however it would then force me to spend lots to fill it
Went to ALDI and not all that impressed, *especially* that they sneakily only provide trollies so you fill them up more. No chance. I got some Spanish serrano ham (100g for £1.19), their £0.69p new potatoes, some Gherkins for £0.55p and some pistachios which seemed good value. MrEL will enjoy these whilst watching footie today and I am out with the girls.
I will still get the best offers whenever Somerfield have them (ie the £1.75 lean mice, the £2.10 cheddar cheese, the £2 for 9 loo rolls). Plus any other offers that crop up like BOGOF etc.
Then Sainsurys are good for us overall - they're cheaper for value tinned peaches, tinned pineapple, natural yoghurt, peanut butter etc. I find that those value products there are miles cheaper than even ALDI and perfectly good quality  . The Sainsubrys deli often has nice meats reduced and also good quality parmesan sometimes on offer. Plus the things like antipasti etc sometimes are reduced.MFW #185
