Hi EL and everyone else :hello:. Spent majority of Thursday and today at the RSH as my son needed an op so not been around much. Will definitaley check out the Thai shop as I am looking for another supplier for sweet chilli sauce - just hope they have my favourite one! Iam definitely up for a meet - are we talking day or night? Might be best done via PM though. Anyway, off to don nurse's hat again as son is feeling sorry for himself lol.

Hi Rioja so sorry to hear that it must be a worriesome time for you, I hope your nursing duties are appreciated and that they do not go on for too long.

The Thai shop is great and the owner is very knowledgeable, I think the cashier is his wife so they work very hard at maintaining the shop and I have been going there for a while now.

    Meeting up

The meet for me personally would need to be after 5pm or on weekends - what does everyone think?

    Hi All :)

Bit of a latecomer to the thread but I have lived in Brighton for over 8 years now!

EagerLearner - in my dim memory I am sure we had a conversation about essential oils via the forum??

I would like to meet up, weekday evenings would be great for me as my weekends tend to get busy. EL - are you sort of organising? I live near to the London Rd so sounds like we may be local-ish to each other. Be nice to meet other MSE-ers. I don't post much but I read & lurk a lot!

Thinking along the 'community' aspect, there are community allotments, up near Hollingdean I think, and I'm sure last year they had open days and that sort of thing. I will endeavour to find out more. I've not yet visited the earthship at Stanmer Park either.

On an MSE & food theme (my favourite topic!) if you like to eat nice food cheaply there is a fantastic little Japanese restauarnt call Pompoko opposite the Dome on Church Rd. They do a huge variety of dishes from about £3-6, one dish is a very decent sized meal :D They are open for lunch & dinner & even do takeaway. As someone who is half Japanese, I can vouch for the authenticity of their cooking, it's lovely & the menu has something for everyone! More expensive but great for noodles is the cafe above Yum Yum's oriental supermarket on Sydney Street in the North Laine. Miles better than Wagamamas!
I could write an essay about eating in Brighton I think :rotfl:

Open market opens from around 9ish to say 17:30 so you should be fine, definately check out the Bacon stall inside as they also do eggs, plus the grocers at the front. The Thai store is fab for soy sauce and sweet chilli in large bottles at great value compared to supermarkets.

Went to veggie man today on Portland road and got lots of goodies, huge root of ginger is one of the items for £1! Lasts months in a drawer, Thai stirfrys here we come ;o)
Bought some eggs at Open Market inside aisle yesterday, haven't looked around for a while. Have bought eggs at front of open market but didn't know some shops had opened inside.

Good to see there are 1/2 shop stalls open again inside now, as last time I looked while back everything was closed on inside aisle.

Pity as number of years ago most of inside stalls were occupied.

I think they're using the old MFI store as well. I hate how awful parking is, which is why I don't just want to tootle over, but I might have to bite the bullet....
