    O Kathy,
I know exactly how your friends must feel, to be denied something that is so easy for some of the most unsuitable people to achieve. Our DS2 and DIL cannot have children, and are in the process of adopting, but the process is so long and involved. They have had to make a family book to be shown to the children they will eventually adopt, it contains all sorts of things including photo's of them both when they were children, as they were growing up, going to school, holidays, just about all aspects of their lives, and ours and their siblings. They have had training sessions, councelling(sp?) have been before a panel of social workers and various other people, had police checks done, (so have we and we have now been approved as baby-sitters/carers)
But there is light at the end of the tunnel, they have been told they should have children after Christmas.
If ever anyone was made to be parents its DS2 and DIL.

Regarding OH and his ear  the specialist said the only thing they can do is a skin graft over the perforation, but he gave OH some drops, I said what for, OH said ermmm. men:mad: he has to go back in 4 wks, so we shall see!!!

Anne - I wish all the luck in the world to your DS2 and DIL in adopting. What a rigmarole they have to go through but the family book is a good idea and will go a long way to helping the adopted children to feel a sense of 'family'. They'll have some history of their own to talk about to their friends.

At least your DH finally went to the doctor's; don't men just hate going? I don't know why - it must be a dent to their ego!

Lucysmam - welcome to you. You'll soon get to know us all!

RedRuby - I hope you're taking it easy; and you, Beth!

Well, I've had a lovely bath that DH ran for me - he runs my bath every night and always gets it just right. I'm far too impatient! I'm going to have some drinking chocolate and sit in front of the TV with my knitting. Don't I live an exciting life?! I wouldn't want to go out anyway in this horrid weather. We've had no thunderstorms but we have had rain and it's very windy. So windy, in fact, that one of the neighbours has been knocking on doors looking for the quilt cover that blew off her line! DH answered the door and I heard him say ' the wife's just put it on our bed!' Cheek! Anyway, there's no sign of it in my garden - I hope she can track it down.

I'll catch up with you all later.

    Have a good evening, everyone!

Had a good day at work (didn't snore or dribble!) and i think mum had a good birthday - we went out and had a nice rosst chicken, bacon and poached egg salad which was lush. We had a pud too - I was really pleased - she ate well. She hasn't had a good appetite recently and is anaemic.

Now I'm going to sleep - two hours max last night wasn't enough! Haven't read the thread so apologies if I've missed anything.

    Goodnight all,

    PO xx

It always astounds me that just about anyone is allowed to make their own baby but they seem to do their best to exclude foster and adoptive parents for the most innocuous reasons. I know there has to be some vetting, but when my friends went through the process they really nitpicked. They suggested the male should grow his hair because his close crop made him look like a skinhead, they interrogated both of them - separately - about their sex life, and even suggested that the evangelical church they attended might be a cult! As it happens, they have two naturally conceived children now, but nobody is bothered for these kids' sakes whether or not they are deviant skinhead religious nutters!

DH has gone out, so the children and have cooked, eaten together, cleared away, done 30mins of Flydash, watched the episode of Ugly Betty that the DVD chose to record (we didn't set it to  just the new series from Friday). I'm now stuffing my face with DS's HM scone with jam and cream :p

    I'm hiding invisible.gif :D

And while I'm hiding I'm looking at evening classes, my DD has told me I should I go to one, she worries because I don't have any friends up here :rotfl: but can't seem to find anything I want to do, I'm only interested in computers and cooking, no cookery courses and have done most of the IT ones, only so much excel a girl needs :rotfl:There is a dancing one, but don't think I would want to go to that on my own.

Yes, I have to agree, it looks like the pigeon out of Dastardly & Mutley.

Not quite as evil as that piece of grinning pizza :rotfl:
