Ok, have had quite a tense day & unfortunately A Necessary Spend Day rather than a No Spend Day :( .

As I start pounding the streets this week - typcially just as the siberian weather arrives  I decided that a thermos thingy would come in very handy for hot chocolate, soup or coffee + brandy so whizzed into town & managed to get one for £2.95 + £1 on parking  . DD also got herself a new DS game so has been very quiet all afternoon, allowing me to get on with all the chores I avoided yesterday.

I've made a payment to CC1 (now Barc) so have covered the minimum necessary & the current balance is now £3,594.77.

As I'd already gone over my January grocery budget I decided to get some shopping yesterday & stocked up on pretty much everything I think we'll need this week...total spent was £28  but I'm hoping that it will help me to keep within the £100 I'm aiming for in February. Given the current weather conditions I'm quite glad I have stocked up on food ;) .

Right, I'd best get off to update my sig ( & check on that gorgeous coat on ebay :shhh: )

Gd 4 u with the flask, thou the suede coat sonds more tempting..........just think if u had gone and got one from the shops it would be a damm site more expensive, and this way you get chance to get something else later on.

You have worked ur butt off on debt busting, the grocery challenge, ok you went over in Jan, but Jan was a difficult mth and more expensive and sounds like the stocking up now will make a big saveing in Febs budget.

What game did DD get, my dd was trying to teach grandad how to use the brain training on DS, so funny, kept her occupied for an hr so got chance to catch up on surveys etc, no peace for the wicked, just rhnk I've forgetton what its like to be wicked!! xx

    Hey mum2one,

the DS game was some Bratz rock school type thing. This was an 'already played' one from HMV - didnt know they did them until today & only £15 - I hate how expensive these games are.

Oldies on games is very amusing; we got my dad to have a go at golf on the wii :rotfl: he's played the real thing for so many years he had to get himself in the right position with bent knees and all, but did say that as far as he could tell it was quite accurate. Dont think the DS screen would be big enough for him to see ;) .

Didnt know HMV did preowned DS games. I know it sounds weird place to suggest but Asda online has games at good prices, and also Wilkinsons, if you go through Quidco theres cashback as well. I wanted the jamie Oliver ds, it was £20+ on Amazon, but on Wilkinsons site it was £10, but felt quilty so didnt get it. xx

Aah but not quite as good as it seems Mum2One. Wilkinsons send their games direct from the manufacturer and add £5 in P&P charges plus take 2-3 weeks as they have no control over 3rd party suppliers despite claims made on their website.

Hope you all have a fab day. We have snow. Only about 0.5cm but enough for it to be crunchy underfoot. Its very very pretty out. OH is due home today (Iwas convinced it was tomorrow) so have tons of tidying to do as it doesn't look like I've done a thing the wohle time hes been away *insert innocent looking whistling who me? type smiley*

My cooking appears to be getting worse. The dogs been a bit under the weather so I dug out a portion of frozen turkey soup (X-mas dinner left overs), defrosted it and stuck it in her dish. Several minutes later DD2 materialises to inform me that the dog has been sick.... in her food bowl. Humph!

:D we've got piles of lovely white stuff here :D

At least 8 inches & it's coming down thick & fast, cant actually remember ever seeing it like this but I love it.

Work & school should be cancelled & we should all just stay in & look at it. So beautiful here, must learn how to upload pic from my phone.....

Snow here too, wishing I worked in a pretty part of town.

Finally got round to listing stuff on Amazon at the weekend... one CD sold and posted today, one book sold and just realised it will probably cost me more in postage than I make in profit. D'oh. Lesson: read DFW guides before you do ANYTHING. Never mind, it's good to have made a start and now I can value-check stuff before the parents ditch it too just in case they have any hidden gems (unlikely, but anyway).

    Back later

    Evening all,

well done Rosa for making a start on selling. It reminds me of the first ( & last for me) time a friend & I did a car booty; she had 2 guitars & some chap bought them first thing... we were delighted until we wandered around later on to find them on his stall at twice the price

Well, due to all the lovely snow I now have a remarkably clean home. It is usually clean in stages ie one day it will be tidy, another day it will be carpet sweepered, the next the bathroom will be clean etc etc but today I did the whole shebang & it made me realise that if i didnt work I would have a lovely home & garden all the time :j ...but no money :(. I doubt I'll be working tomorrow either unless all the snow magically disappears overnight which means that come friday I will be a proper pauper  . Fortunately no CC payments due for another couple of weeks & there should be enough in the bank to cover rent & all other direct debits, so it's just food, gas & electricity & the funds that will be depleted but I do have the emergency fund ;) if necessary.

We went to the local shops & there was drama as there was no milk to be had due to no delivery  . Given that we've been told this weather was coming for about a week now I'm surprised that people havent stocked up  . I'm not being smug at all as were it not for me trying to have NSDs & therefore doing all my weeks shopping on saturday, then we probably wouldnt have any either :o . MSE to the rescue yet again :T . We have about 6 pints in the fridge & plenty of food but may well develop scurvy or rickets as there's not a lot of fresh fruit & veg in there. Ah well, there's 2 bottles of wine & plenty of chocolate so I dont care; my needs are catered for :p;) .

All 403 schools in Surrey are closed again tomorrow & I'm just miffed that we dont have a sledge :( have been hunting for something we can use instead but DD doesnt think my idea of putting a sleeping bag inside a black bag is any good  . All ideas gratefully received & considered :D

    bye for now

Improvised sledges are far more fun than the real thing. As long as its big enough to fit your bum on it works a treat. Tea trays are great but recommendation of the day is the very expensive reusable carrier bags as they don't rip quite as easily but beware stones. Thick plastic sheeting works well too especially the sacks that building materials are delivered in.

Waiting by the radio to hear if school is shut. Not that I'll get there if its not but its nice to know that I'm not skiving unnescessarily.
