Tesco's Officially Stopped Coupons????

I think the official Sainsbury's policy did change quite a while ago and they are not supposed to accept vouchers for things you haven't bought. I do sometimes manage to sneak one or two through (a Kelloggs one for another cereal, or an Observer one for the Times, etc), as they'll get their money for them anyway.kingshir wrote:Sorry, I know this is a Tesco thread but I had a nasty shock in Sainsburys yesterday when the assistant annunced she couldn't take my vouchers unless I'd bought the items. When I queried this, she said it had 'been like that for ages' - well that was news to me as other assistants have taken them! I didn't have a lot either, only 3 worth in total about £1.50, so I might start shopping at Asda & Tescos instead which is a shame because I do like Sainsburys!0 -
I have just been to tesco (crewe) and got told they will only take one voucher of the whole shop if I have not bought the item and two if I have. I went earlier in the week and got told the same.
Not impressed as two weeks ago I did my Big shop and got seven pounds in vouchers off without questioning and double points plus my mother in law went through before me and put her points on my card too.
Strange!

I think this is the end of the free for all on vouchers. Tesco (Broughton) told me today they could only accept 1 coupon for items I hadn't bought. The cashier told me this was because people had been using photocopied vouchers and some customers came in with envelopes full of coupons. It looks like the greed of the minority has ruined it for us all.
In my experience this follows on from a clampdown from Asda over the last month or so.
Ah well it was good while it lasted and in future I will be buying smaller amounts and will be making sure the vouchers I hand over are high value (eg Joey's). Alternatively I will order on the internet and use the discount codes that are routinely available.
Possibly the rules will be relaxed again in the New Year after the Christmas rush?0 -
I think if they have only just bought in this rule you have done very well to have had such relaxed rules up until now. My local Tesco store has only accepted one coupon per item i hadnt bought for a good 12 - 18 months now.cmorgan wrote:I think this is the end of the free for all on vouchers. I used £4.00 Somerfield (wine) vouchers in Tesco (Bangor) on Friday, for a £40 shop, didn't buy wine, and they were accepted without a blink.
Did wink to male cashier tho!!;):j0 -
I think cmorgan means one voucher for things you haven't bought per shop, not per item...Judi wrote:I think if they have only just bought in this rule you have done very well to have had such relaxed rules up until now. Did Tesco previously take vouchers for money off items, even if you hadn't bought them? But now that is ending?0

My local tescos seems to be still taking as many vouchers as you like. I spent £20 last night and used £4.00 in vouchers with no probs. There have been a few times when i have been given a few back if say I have only spent a small amount and I have given lots of vouchers but this doesn't happen often and I never complain!0

At my local Tescos it is very hit and miss, one week the cashier will take as many as I hand over and the following week I am refused by a different one. I sought clarification from Tesco HO but that was as clear as mud !! Now I just take them and if they deduct them from my bill it is a bonus. This week I have alot of clubcard bonus vouchers so will ease off the money off vouchers but the following week will use them again. Infact, I always have money off vouchers in my handbag so that if ever I pop into a store I can use some. This proved really handy yesterday in Asda as I didn't realise they would accept them but tried my luck and had £4.00 off my bill.
I am the only Voucher Queen in my village LOL

Be very careful!
I have been banned from one store for using too many coupons.
I've written to head office who told me to write to the store.
I wrote to the store who wrote back saying that I "am not welcome" in their store.
I was VERY upset at the time but I'm okay now. I do still go to Tescos (different stores) as I'm saving my clubcard points for a holiday and I now use coupons up to about 10% of the shop. I DO NOT want to draw attention to myself again!0
