  • Thank goodness for this site. It is good to know that I am not the only person who feels persecuted on a daily basis. Sometimes, I think it must just be me, but I go to this site and I find my problem replicated a dozen times. ???

Well, Scottish Power, eh. I have been with them since January. I signed up for capped rate - fixed until December 2006 - payment via internet. Billings were being generated as 'capped domestic'. Suddenly, I have lost my 'capped' status - yes, I have been decapitated!!!! Phoned them up and supposedly got it reinstated to the correct tariffs and date. However, new agreement turned up with a different capped rate - more expensive of course and only capped to December 2005. ::) Phoned Sales (it is the only 0800 number) and Scottish Power have a real problem with responding to e-mails. I have played merry hell. I told them that I feel they are working a flanker and that I cannot be the only person to whom this has happened. They are now in the process of reestablishing the rates for my initial capped ageement with them. I have made in plain that if this is not put right I will be taking the matter up with Ofgen/Energywatch. So, all you 'cappies' - given, of course, that their internet system will allow you to generate a bill in the first place - you had better check the chargeable rates against your service agreement.

Phew, I feel a lot better now that I have had a good moan. :) ;D
  • ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

I've now lost all patience with SP.

Over the past 2 months (see my previous thread) I've spoken to 5 different people regarding my online account. Each has`promised it will be up and running within 5 days. Why it takes 5 days God only knows.

    However, still no online account.

The they ring me (always when yous are eating evening meal) to inform me that for £2 per month they will cap the present rates I'm paying.

Told her to ring me back when they sort out my online account!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as you all post on this site, it is apparent that you all have internet access. therefore, you do not have to listen to reps when they call. simply log onto uswitch when they come round, listen to their spiel, do a price comparison and then watch their face when you prove them wrong. if they disbelieve the website, try using ukpower.co.uk. we approve both of these and both are regularly updated.

    Hey Loon

Data protection covers personal information stored by companies

It DOES NOT cover companies them selves or independent regulartory bodies

  • Steer clear. >:(
  • Oh, my heart sank as I read through this thread. I had come in all fired up to write about how disgusted and fed up I am with Scottish Power, only to find out that everyone has done it already and I should have read this before I decided to change suppliers (about 4 - 6 weeks before Martin told us not to yet!)

I tried several online price comparrison sites, entered the same energy consumption in each and all other info the same and ended up with Scottish Power being the cheapest on all but 1 of them. However, The savings did range from about £26 to £80 all for Scottish Power. How can this be the case, anyone know?

They have been pretty rubbish from the start, not once confirming the amount I would save, despite repeated phone calls. Then starting a direct debit for £9 a month more than I was paying with my previous supplier. It took several phone calls to get that sorted out, only to then get a bank statement saying they'd taken out the higher amount last month!

Several more phone calls today, wading my way through their phone system, getting put on hold, cut off, queing, having to redial a lo-call number instead of the free one on my info... the list goes on and I am pretty fed up to say the least.

Guess I will just stick with them though until Martin gives the nod to change then I'll be off like a shot.
    something missing
  • I am exhausted reading this topic. Annual actual consumption Kws X cost per kw = knowledge.  ???

Severe letter or email to sort it out :-[

Phone calls not too successful from my experience. :-[

    Going to bed ::)

I was suprised to find a meter reader at my door today. Not that that in itself suprised me, but when he took my gas and electricity readings - that suprised me. Apparantly Scottish Power use their own staff to read meters and they collect both readings if you are a dual fuel customer.
