  • Good to see you back SH and IC
Hope the bubble bath was good Cas, our bathroom is too cold to enjoy a bath in until about May! :rotfl:
Ruby - are you getting excited about your new job yet? Will a change be as good as a rest?
Work is :mad: for me at the moment but need to keep it in perspective. I am grateful I have one.
Back on the 'DFW what small things' thread daily and feel it keeps me on my toes as does this thread.Great to have such good cyber friends

Hi Belle, sorry to hear work is stressy for you at the moment, hang on in there. What line of work are you in? Like you say we have to be grateful to have a job at the moment, I am hearing daily of people that have either been made redundant or have the threat of it hanging over their heads.

I must look in on the 'what small things' thread, I have before and found it really useful. How does it work, do you have to commit to doing x number of things in a day?

I am looking forward to my new job, I start next Monday and I'm excited about the challenge. Bit scared as well, but hey I guess that is natural.

    Better go lots to do.

    xxx

Hi Ruby - good luck with starting the new job - I'm sure you will do great and you seem to have negotiated yourself a great deal:T

  • Hope Mon goes well for you Ruby! I have to agree, Todd Carty was the funniest thing Ive seen in a long time!

2nd job going well,am a bit tired to be honest. But its only until the end of March and when most people are unsure about the job they have, or have none at all, Im glad to have the chance of making a bit more at the mo!

Feel a bit down about it all tho, cuz you're never any better off! I wont be any better off with the money Ive made as it wont pay off cards or loan and they are re-payment plans as low as I can afford at the mo. What do I do? Do I pay off some stuff or put it into savings and wait? Im a bit fed up with it all!

  • Thanks for the kind words SH and IC.

IC you are doing brilliantly, if you have to spend your extra money on 'getting by' then do it, at least you are keeping your head above water and without the 2nd job it would be much harder. As Cas said earlier in the thread, thinking about debts, money, etc. all the time isn't good for the soul. So accept this cyber 'PAT ON THE BACK' for working really, really, hard to keep everything together and go and treat yourself to something just for you.

    Big hugs.

belle good to hear from you, keep posting your frustrations on here (i'm sure Ruby wont mind :D ) if it helps. we are lucky to have jobs but it doesnt make it any less frustrating/stressy sometimes. but we are here for you to sound off at ;)
Ruby good luck for monday, how exciting please let us know how your first day goes ( i'll be thinking about you)
IC dont be disheartened you are doing incredibly well keeping up with 2 jobs and a young family its really hard,it will all come together eventually

well OH has manflu  honestly you would think no-one had ever survived a head cold like his ;) and of course it has completely immobilised his arms and legs :rotfl:

think i will have a mooch round the local shops tomorrow to hunt out some bargains. I just hope there are some still open. several small shops have closed and woollies of course oh co-op's gone too, its such a shame it used to be a vibrant shopping centre, i havent been since xmas and I bet its really quiet
anyhow hope you all have a peaceful weekend xx
  • Morning Cas, have a good day off. You have three stars now too!!

I don't have any plans for my day off except to clean, clean, clean. We now have a fixed kitchen ceiling but there is plaster dust in all sorts of hidden places so I will give everywhere a good blitz, then I think i might take a leaf out of your book and do some baking.

Hope everyone is ok and that you all have a lovely weekend. I hear we are to expect snow?!!

  • Thank you girls for the kind words! Its so hard and sometimes it can overwhelm, and u forget how far you've come by focusing on how far you still have to go!!!!!
E'one else seems so be getting what I want at the minute and its very hard to deal with! My friend has just had a baby, 3 more are pregnant and DH says we cant afford one, despite my kids being my step-kids!
I wanted to go to Scotland for Valentines, DH says we cant afford it! I had to book my boss and family on a 4 day break to Aviemore yesterday and I honestly could have cried!
Im now so obsessed about flippin money that I cant bring myself to spend any cause I always talk myself out of it, meanwhile DH buys more clothes that he doesnt need and he has 3 times the amount I have!!!
I just want to run away!
Im flippin fed up with this 'cant afford to have a life' life!
You know what? Id love to know your first names?!! Mine's Ruth

  • Hi Ruth, I DO know how you feel I really do. We seem to have very little life at the moment with the highlight of the week being buying the groceries for the next week!!! Hang on in there you have come a long way. Is there any scope for you to treat yourself this weekend? Maybe a night out with the girls, a massage or facial, new top. It doesn't have to be loads of money but you certainly sound as if you need a break from thinking about what you can't spend all the time. The title of this diary is becoming debt free whilst still having a life.... and I feel that is really the approach we have to take.

Big hugs, please don't run away, we need you.

Hi Irish - do you do the £10 a day challenge? As you can see I do - most of my sig is down to free daily scratch cards, daily cash back sites and my beloved bingoport where you can play for free but get free amazon vouchers once you have enough points. If you pm me i can give you more details - that is how I survive - as it gives me a little extra for treats...
