sounds like an interesting, high powered job Ruby I only work 3 days a week and have been toying with increasing my hours. but I love my mondays and fridays, and my evenings and weekends are taken up by taking DD2 to her swimming club (6 times a week) and DD1 to her gym club ( 5 times a week) so its when I do my cleaning cooking and shopping. also its useful as the girls are having regular orthodontist appointments and DD2 is having physio appointments too and there is no way I would get time off work to take them. see, I have talked myself out of it :D
BTW we are a similar age Ruby ( I am just an ickle bit older than you :p )
i have to say my kids are not too like Kevin at the moment although DD2 (13) has her moments:rotfl: DD1 ( 15) is a dream and I am very fortunate that we are able to talk about anything, I think it helps.
smarties 15 months is a lovely age, i remember it well with my 2 , they learn new stuff every day dont they? good luck with the new job
YB thanks for the support. how are you doing?
    SH hows things?
  • Morning Cas, good to hear I am not the only 40 something on the diary. Do you work term time only Cas? I know I will miss my Fridays for all the same reasons as you it is the day I get everything organised, but I also know we could do with the money and it might knock quite a lot of time off our DFD. I think I have decided that if I can get a work at home contract I will go for it, because having home as my base will make it feel a whole lot easier. The job is interesting, but in no way high powered.

Your life seems really full with both your daughters being so active in clubs etc. so I can see why your two days are sooo precious. When does your daughters dentist treatment start?

    Thanks for your support.

no I dont have a term time contract, but luckily OH does (hes a teacher) so we have been very lucky with child care over the years

DD2 started her treatment about 4 months ago but thankfully she qualifies for NHS treatment. We go back in 6 weeks and I will tell him then that DD1 wants to go ahead with a brace. he gave us time to think about it as its so costly. but there is no choice really is there?

I think working an extra day will certainly help you on your way to becoming debt free and as you say it needs to be seriously considered. I hope it works out for you whichever way it goes x

our time is certainly restricted with the girls training. DD1 is a national gymnast and trains really hard. that said she is considering reducing her hours as she has started coaching now and really enjoys it ( plus she gets paid for it) I think its a good idea for her to slow down a bit especially as she has gcse's to think about
DD2 swims for yorkshire and at the moment is doing really well although she is having a problem with her knee and is about to have physio.
they are both very sporty ( must take after their dad!) I prefer the quieter life :rotfl: .
  • Ruby, I used to only work 4 days/week but also couldnt justify the money I was missing out on! Look at it this way, once your a bit better sorted, you can reduce your hours again! A least thats what I keep telling myself!
Mind you, have started a new job after work now too, just to get a bit of extra money. Nightmare, but the moneys great so cant really say no and its only till end of March! I'll just grin and bear it for a few mths!
    Know how your feeling Ruby!
