I'm typing from bed today ladies, day three off work sick with proper flu!!! I ache so much.
DH really annoyed me last night because I'm sure he thinks I am faking it!! He had one of those I'm not eating if no-one else is moods on, which meant I had to get out of bed to make sandwiches all round!!*** because I just couldn't muster together anything else and then of course he wanted one!!
Have hot water bottle and lemsip and I am staying put again today in the hope that tomorrow will be easier.
Love to all.

SH thats really bad news. I hope you will find something soon.
Ruby hope you are feeling a bit better. OH's they are so sensitive and supportive arnt they:rolleyes: . you need to rest, flu can take a bit of getting over.
all quiet here at the mo. DD2 is staying late at school as she has joined a debating society.
DD1 is staying too to do an advanced maths class :A rather her than me.
I have done a quick tidy up ( feel too tired to put my back into it) need to look for something for tea.

HI Irishchick - hope your chat goes well. It sounds great news:T
Ruby hope you feel better soon.
Sister cas and others thanks for the good wishes:A . It was a temporary job but I hoped it would go perm - but it didn't work out that way. I've got it for a few more weeks. I have done an emergency budget and in theory we would survive with house intact
but that would require a lot of discipline:eek: We would need to count the pennies....
Problem is if I can't get a localish job, which is reasonably unlikely due to where I live, I would be looking at a commute of 1-1.5 hours each way, plus the cost of that and might have to take a pay cut   My childcare costs could also go up as my DD might have to go in breakfast club as well. That's if I can get a job at all...
As you can see I'm feeling really optimistic at this stage:rolleyes: I have talked to 3 agencies today and they are going to start looking out for something for me. Have another 9 or so I intend to contact. There are jobs out there but they are all high travel distance jobs...

Hi everyone
Sorry not to have been around for ages, been poorly and also away from home quite a bit.
SH - so sorry to hear your news, you are such a determined person I know you will get another job soon, but I also know how hard it will be, and the worry, so am sending thoughts and hugs your way.
Well done on the 3lbs Cas, I wish I could say the same but my dvd has stayed in it's box shamefully.
Ruby, good news on the o/d - bit less to worry about.
IC - how weird are the weird hours? Is the money enough to make up for it?
We keep battling away here, just shaving a bit more off money worries. I love the 'What small things ' thread because that's how it is for us now - no big things , just keep at it and make new habits.
Have missed you all and will try to come back more regularly - it's hard to get on the pc!

Made another £5 on B port
Told today that they will let me go for interviews in work's time, including to sign up with agencies and that they will be flexible on finish date if I get an offer that is dependent on that. I am supposed to get a bonus too which they are working on getting signed off for me - so all credit to them they are being very supportive - but that's why I want to stay - they are so nice!
Been put forward for a job today so that's good - its a start - have to see if I get an interview now.
Thanks YB for the good wishes - hope you feel better soon

Hi everyone,
SH, your current employers do seem very supportive and I can understand why you would want to stay there. Is the job you have been put forward for with your current employer or via an agency? I feel with that support and your determination you will have something new and exciting before you know it. Stay positive.
YB, Hi!! good to hear from you and sorry to hear you have been unwell. There are so many bugs around at the moment and my GP yesterday said a flu epidemic as well. Do keep posting you are part of our lovely gang!!
IC, anymore news on the after school hours job?
SC, sorry I didn't answer your spreadsheet question. What I do (because I am a saddo!!) is about this time every month I set up a sheet of what is going to happen in the bank account for the following month. It is the same every month but because DH gets paid weekly some month it can be really awkward if a DD or SO comes out a day early and it is the day before his money goes in. So I set up with a starting balance, what day the CR's and DR's are taking place to ensure we can stay in CR. We don't have any OD facility on this new account so I just have to anticipate any problems in advance. And because things are so tight we haven't got the luxury of a big enough balance to cover all eventualities. It works for me, but don't worry about doing it if you don't need to.
I left the house for the first time in four days yesterday because this bug is finally lifting, feel more myself today thank goodness.
Hope everyone has a good day.

I am glad your starting to feel better.
I have no idea how you do a spreadsheet showing what you have, dont suppose you have a template you could possibly send me so that i could maybe try it? Thanks0 -
HI Ruby - hope you feel better soon
Smarties
Could you get some of your bank statements together - work out when your income comes in and when your outgoings like direct debits or standing order come out. Then work out how much you need to allow a week for things like fuel, food etc and then put that in a spreadsheet and make sure it balances. You could also use the budget planner on here but that doesn't show dates.
If you bank with someone like barclays - they will let you download your data into a csv excel format - if that is of any help.
I have now applied for 8 jobs - thanks again for the support.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
