Dustykitten - I have never heard this before - does it having a meaning or am I being thick again!!!
    toots xx

It is something we always did as kids. First person to remember it is the first of the month goes up to somebody and says 'pinch and a punch for the first of the month' whilst pinching and punches them. The other usually retaliates 'a smack and a kick for being so quick':

    Meaning:

The first day of a new month and no doubt you've heard someone mutter the traditional "a pinch and a punch for the first day of the month" accompanied by a pinch and (a gentle) punch to the victim. This dates from old England when people thought that witches still existed. It was believed that salt would make a witch weak so the pinch part is for a pinch of salt. She would be so weak from the salt that she could be easily overcome by the punch.

I am very much like a modern day witch myself but we do it for the fun of it.

Froddy I'm glad you went and saw your head and hope you feel more positive now

I haven't got as far as I wanted today.

DS3 in bed, all clean, toe nails clipped, checked for no nits.

I need to tidy up the kitchen from tea and then label his pe shorts/find his pe t shirt - no idea where that is and do some ironing.

Rest of the list will be left until tomorrow.

Took DD into town this afternoon and bought some curtain wire (I love poundland :D ), some extra "eyes" as I had hooks, the instant double glazing pack (only the small one as I'm only going to do a few smallish windows but want plenty to spare as the last lot came off ), and two text books for me to read on writing essays/dissertations & study skills as I've discovered I'm more rusty than I thought :o

No flying done really, but the place is clean and tidy. Just going to do the washing up and then get the stuff out for the morning. Will start flying/studying properly tomorrow once DD is back at school. I have a deadline of 12th and I still have 1.5 tutorials & a chapter to read before I start the TMA :eek: Right, dishes

Glad that things went well with the head froddington. Sounds like you got loads done - don't overdo it with your poorly arm though. Good for you not going in tomorrow - I know lots of teachers who think that just because school is open in the holidays, that they must go in and do stuff. My old mentor is a complete workaholic, so no doubt she's been in school today. When we went on holiday together in the May half term to America, she suggested we take our laptops with us so that we could do some planning! Luckily I put my foot down having only had 2 days off from school work in the easter holidays, and said that anything that needed doing could be done on the Inset day when we went back. She still couldn't help herself talking about school work though whilst we were there. lol
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

PF.. DD4 (the one in the pic with the cat) shares GF's birthday.. 17-11... 'cept mines only 6 this year!

DD1 is going to see me have a blue fit when she comes in from 'walking her friend to the bus stop!!'.. She has been gone nearly an hour.. next time her friend comes she can take herself to the bus stop!!

I have deflea'd AGAIN.. 4 girlies.. the boys had nothing but the girls were hopping.. I am sure they sprinkle themselves with them every time I do them.. they were all nuked 3 times during the first coupke of weeks of the holidays yet they are STILL hopping.. I have also done a few drastic much needed hair cuts.

Tiddles lost 2.5 inches, DD3 lost 6 inches, DD4 lost 4 inches and DD2 lost 2 inches.. her hair is beautiful but she wants it all lopped off and I just couldn't bring myself to do it!!

I am now.. going for a shower, washing my nest, defleaing myself just in case anything decided to make me its new home!! I am a bit odd though, I had one crawling up my side and it bit me and I felt it.. easy to get rid of bugs when you feel every nibble!! I was bitten by a blooming ant the other day.. my bin was full of them.. totally preferable to maggots though!!!

Right.. I'm going to call the friends mobile see if DD1 is still with her in which case she will be getting a right good going over..

Can I just say. I have NEVER iced a cake before in my life!!!!!!!!!!! That was a first attempt!!! .. and surprisingly simple it was too!

DeniseNZ – hope DS gets better this week and you get your trip away. You have been a busy flylady with your paperwork too – most impressive!

Then you'll be even more impressed that I got up at silly o'clock this morning and did some more!!!

Thanks for the recipe for snickerdoodles polkadot. I will now have to go out and buy some cream of tartar as I don't have any, and want to make them now. Even OH thinks they sound good, and he's not a big fan of cinnamon (sp?).

When you told us the name, I was expecting them to have something to do with snickers bars - is it a south african recipe?

Just realised the time - will have to make a move at getting the dinner on (fishfingers and baked beans) - trouble is, I really can't be bothered to do it - I have a headache again, possibly caused by being on the computer all day again. Do I call for a Chinese?
