:) Thank you to all OPs :)
  • hi all, i received the info pack today and i am very impressed with it, its a low cost start up and i love the product. just a little question, when you do toddler groups etc do you offer them a percentage of the profits in cash or in goods or something else?

sorry another question, when and if you do a craft show do you buy lots of stock before hand and take them along with the card racks or just take brochures and info.

    thanks in advance Carrie

    Hello Carrie,

I always offer 10% of the proceeds to the toddler group, which is usually accepted. However, one toddler group has asked for goods instead of cash, which they will use as a raffle prize at the end of the year. I think I will provide them with a £5 gift voucher, to spend on Phoenix products, the recipient will not have to spend anything to redeem the voucher, although they are welcome to do so!

I usually take stock to sell to toddler groups and events, since the visitors tend to want to buy there and then. I do also take brochures and samples with me, in order to give the opportunity to place orders.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi everyone,

I am hoping to start as a Trader, and am waiting for my information pack. Thanks for this thread, it's very helpful.

I have been researching the website for costs, etc and am a bit puzzled as to whether it's possible to make a profit within a reasonable timeframe.

If people want to place an order, they won't want to wait too long, so even assuming I make only one order per month, that's £6 plus VAT = £7.05 (I don't have the cash to make up the quantity if my order isn't huge.

£7.05p per month = £84.60 a year, plus someone mentioned an annual fee of £25, so that is £109.60 a year.

At a basic commission of 30p a card, I make that having to sell nearly 400 cards a year, even without paying for any sales materials, catalogues, tables at fairs, hostess gifts etc; and I also am worried about the cards getting dog-eared without buying cello bags which would add to the costs.

Most of my family and friends are as broke as I am and we usually buy cards at 39p from the discount ranges, so I don't know how many I can sell.

Another question; do customers ever make any comments about the fact that the cards are blank inside, so may look as if they are less of a personal purchase?

Skeeter, I believe that you said you'd bought the largest starter pack. Do you think it was worth it? What did it contain? All cards, or some wrap? Good sellers, or a mixture? Some brochures?
Also, does the business pack contain sales materials like card stands etc?

Sorry to ask lots of questions, but this looks like a lovely opportunity, and I am worried that it'll go the same way as other direct sales stuff I tried a long time ago, when I spent more than I made.

    Thanks for all the advice

    Hello Rosemary,

Firstly, although you are self-employed and responsible for your own business, Phoenix Trader's do also work as part of a team. Those in my upline are very helpful, if I needed to fulfil a small order quickly, I would be able to source the products required from my upline, or another member of the team. So I would not be in a position where I would have to pay the £6 delivery charge. It is worth discussing this concern with you sponsor, so they can give you an idea of what support will be available to you.

I have not as yet heard any negative comments with reference to the fact that the cards are blank, in fact it is a positive aspect in that the cards are more versatile and can be tailored for a variety of occasions.

I became a Trader in July, and it is challenging to establish yourself as a 'known' Phoenix Trader. It will take a considerable amount of effort at first, although once you have established your customer base, the business will come to you!

In my opinion the most comprehensive starter park is worth it, although I had the money available to purchase it. If I did not have the money available, I would not have got into debt to purchase it.

The business kit provides everything you need to get started, although the card stand is available to purchase seperately. If you do not have a card stand, you could use wicker baskets to display the products (I sourced mine from freecycle!).

If you are really uncertain about joining Phoenix Trading, I would put a lot of thought into it first to ensure you are making the right decision.

    Hope this helps.
:) Thank you to all OPs :)

If you do not have a sponsor, Phoenix Trading will allocate you one, so if you contact them direct they should be able to send you an information pack.
:) Thank you to all OPs :)
