  • That's a brilliant idea skeeter - I have asked our local preschool and they are keen to have a box of cards in the entrance but they are not keen on Christmas cards as they get a higher percentage from Webb Ivory. I will try the local WI and ask at the hospice and see if there is ant interest there.
    Thanks :-)

Hi Froofroo. I applied online way back in January for an info pack and said I had heard about it online - I never heard anything back. Then last week I decided to have a go again as I am very keen on joining but have never met any traders. Like you I got an emailing asking where I had found out about them, I told the truth and said on an online forum - the pack arrived 2days later.

    Hope this helps, good luck.

A good tip from my upline was to contact local charities e.g Women's Institution, hospices etc. and offer your fundraising services to them. Since these are the charities with minimal publicity.

You could also try your local NCT - NATIONAL Childbirth Trust, branch. They have about 4 get togethers a year and the cards always go down well with mums.
  • Thanks for the offer Kat. I haven't had the pack yet but I will wait to see if it comes over the weekend and if not I'll give the number a call on Monday and see what is happening. Keep the ideas coming though!

  • How is everyone doing?

I am now booked into a few toddler groups during the next month. Most of which have previously had a Phoenix Trader attend their group, and the Trader has not kept in touch during the last year. So I am going to try and book myself another date with the group, whilst I am there.

I have given the group organiser an A4 poster, which specifies the date I will be present at their toddler group. I have also downloaded the new sign from Phoenix which specifies that in August they raised £32,000 from the sales of Christmas cards, for Cancer Research UK and Children's Hospices UK. Since it shows the target of £100,000, I hope this will encourage people to purchase their Christmas cards from me.

I have put together some A5 flyers to promote coffee & card mornings, which basically specifies that the hostess will receive 25% off her order (or 30% of the profits donated to a charity of her choice) and £5 of Phoenix items. I will place these in the bag with the freepost cards, and give them out with each purchase.

I am also going to try and set up a mailing list whilst I am there.

It is challenging trying to establish myself ;)
:) Thank you to all OPs :)

I have just got my information pack but am still confused....is there a level under which i could sell the cards etc and not have to pay tax? (am not working at all). Or do you always have to keep 10% etc in a bank account to declare each year?

    Brochure and bits are lovely!

    Hello clarew,

If you keep records of all your incomings and outgoings, and when you determine what your profit is at the end of the tax year, if your profit is less than your personal tax free allowance, then you will not be required to pay tax.

    Hope this helps.
:) Thank you to all OPs :)
