  • Hi All

Thank goodness for my search for 'brochure drop resealable bags' as I came across you guys!

I started PT late Sept and so far have had an open house evening, a party and had a stand at a baby & toddler group. I only bought the business kit and some extra brochures and this has worked for me so far. I knew the christmas card door star display I bought from Next two years ago would be used one day!!

I do have events coming up (school fair, chistmas fair, pamper evening, etc) and was planning on a card stand with a sample of each of the Christmas cards in cellophane displayed, with a sticker on each indicating product code, price and how many in pack. That way people will see quickly what they can get, select their items and place an order there and then. Was also going to buy one of each of the Photo cards, couple of advent calendars and perhaps some extra items as gift ideas (wall charts, colouring in sheets, notepads, etc). Was also going to wrap up a couple of boxes to show off the christmas wrap with downloadable christmas wrap sheet. Do you think this would be Ok or do I really need to sell from stock. Don't really want to have any more outlays as also invested in another business which I sell alongside PT. Any thoughts / comments on my plans?

I am also planning on doing a brochure drop early Nov when return from half term hols - can anyone tell me where they get their plastic resealable bags from? Also was thinking of doing a larger supplement drop - anyone tried this, get any responses - either from freepost card or request for brochure/party? Live on a newish large housing estate so thought would be worth a shot with low expense?

After all these questions thought I better share a few ideas too....I add a shameless sales pitch to all e-mails I send out (had requests for brochures from this and will follow up!) and also offering 15% in free products to people interested in collecting orders from family and friends (returned home from a party last night and had an order waiting from me from a lady who had done just this so result!). I'm also thinking of having another open event but doing it in afternoon and evening (closed for child's tea and bedtime!). I have a couple of friends who are also selling items / services for Christmas so thought we could have a shopping extravaganza - good thing is the items are all very different to what I am selling!

    Great thread - thanks everyone!
  • Hi Cowsandcards... welcome to the board. i bought my bags from ebay, A4 size gripseal and i think its was £4.40 for 100 inc P&P so not that cheap but does the job.

sharing a event with someone else is a good idea, think i'm going to look for someone to do this with, might benefit us both

    anyways glad you found us
  • question for the experienced Traders... when it comes to discontinued stock how do you go about telling your customers about these. say if i was having a party at a friends house, would u photo copy a list of items discontinued and show them, or maybe wait till they have ordered them then tell them or maybe add it in each brochure..

    thanks for your help
  • Hi all, i got my info pack today and looked and read through it, the only the i was wondering is what if i can at this moment in time only scrap the £45 starter kit and nothing else. Is it gonna be worth while?
I was only thinking of starting off small anyways, and leave some samples and books at the place where i clean and some friends.
It just kinda feels like i would be lame if i didn't buy the other packs too, but to be honest i just havn't got the money, i thought i could just save the money i had made once i had paid for peoples orders untill i could buy the show packs??

    any thoughts welcome :-)

Hi you shouldn't make yourself out of pocket, (if you can help it) one of the new girls in my team has just used the samples which came in her starter pack , just to get herself going. Then she places an order once customers have placed their orders with her. If it's any help look in the Australian Newsletters( under downloads) look at April's edition Page 3 there is an article about different ways of doing it.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Cowsandcards,

I am intrigued about this shameless pitch in your emails? What exactly does it say?
:) Thank you to all OPs :)

Do you mean the products at the back of the brochure, or the ones which do not make it into the brochure?

Hi everyone. Just to let you know that I did recieve my pack after I rang and asked about it, and have done a couple of door to door drops in the last few weeks. I have dropped about 30-40 and got 3 orders and 3 that are going to contact me when they have had a proper look, so not bad really. Family and friends are all enthusiastic about the product and placing larger orders, so I'm pleased with the results so far.
I'm fairly busy with work and University so just doing a few door drops when I have time. Hopefully this will give me a little income to use when I have more time to devote!!

  • hi skeeter,
sorry didn't explain myself properly... on PT web there is a stock update sheet and some of the stock in the borochure is on the discontinued list (I think) mainly xmas stock
  • I've just received my info pack, watched the DVD and read through all the literature and am just mulling it over. I already run a business from home which is doing quite well but need to up my income as DH was made redundant earlier in the year and although he is working again his salary is much less than he was earning before.

I'm interested in doing craft fairs etc and my current business would fit with selling Phoenix cards. This thread has been very useful and I will contact the upline that I've been given.

Oooppps I wrote about how much I'd paid out on phoenix products etc earlier as a pointer to people about buying larger packs etc-think it's been removed-oooppps and very sorry I got it wrong!!;)

A worthwhile reminder though-the wrap, tag and matching card sells very well as a pack-lavender, football, butterflies, fairy cakes etc
You could also add a bookmark/and/or notepad with the lavender sets.

Gingerbread theme at Chrismas-I've put Thankyou cards, photo card and paper chains together in a cello bag and they sell much better like that than those I've left individually.
