  • Forgot to mention, pre-empting a no-show from the courier, I also asked if at least they could certify the time for the re-collection. Again, was like talking to a brick wall. Pah.

I just telephoned PPW to see about price increases and the young lady told me

there were to be none that she knew of.

So I will list as usual.

According to a previous post by matchsticks-on-toast, PPW informed matchsticks that they are putting their prices up on October the 1st.

  • resellers have know about this for months, ppw told me at the start of aug...
ppw and direct parcel delivery will put prices up on 1st oct

So if matchsticks information is correct, it would appear that PPW may be putting their prices up.

We were also informed that we should ask for Charlotte. I may be wrong but thought the girls in the office were Laura and Yevette.

As for wotef I'm afraid that how things roll with couriers. Failed collections happen especially if you are not a regular sender. ppw are just booking agents, they are not DHL, if say the driver runs out of time they can't do anything, apart from re-book it for the next day. It's the same with any booking agent. Phoning during the day asking the where abouts of the driver is unworkable, especially as they come up to 5.30, ours comes around 5pm.

Out of interest what would you expect them to do?

How can they specify collection times? Drivers can have 150+ collections and deliveries to do. Collections can come through up in till 2-3pm. They can't plan a route, can't plan for traffic. If you establish a relationship with your driver they'll probably try get to you a set'ish time. But that's as good as gets. I'm not saying the systems great, but that's how it is.

To be honest I think you may well be better off sticking to the Royal Mail. If you read my first post you have to prepared to make allowances, and if your not the prognosis is poor.

unfortunatly some people seem to want the earth for under a tenner
the drivers bear the brunt of this,i cant imagine how hard it must be on a multi drop delivery route getting collections added at 2pm and beyond

ArmitageShanks, yeah, I'm a home user, so what? So they don't give customer service to non-bulk clients, is that what you're saying? Well, hello, what are most people who'd use ebay then?

You defend them without considering the simple fact that I wasted a whole day of time, paid for a next day delivery and get no come back whatsoever.

It's not about the price, thanks for insinuating that in a patronising way. I'm getting to ready to emigrate soon if you can imagine that, I've got 1001 things to do and everything is being planned out in a certain order, including devoting a whole day to ship some things out. Which has now been wasted and caused me a lot of aggravation with rubbish customer service on top. All for less than a tenner. Great. I'd rather have paid double or triple and got someone A) reliable B) with some notion of how to treat customers with valid queries C) some way to sort it out to satisfaction after it goes pear shaped.

I'll see what happens tomorrow morning. I don't have much confidence in them. It was Yvette I spoke to.

They are booking agents, they're not DHL, they do not collect your parcel, they only book it.

What do you expect them to do? What else could they of done....drive down and collect it them selves?
  • I asked them for a number to contact DHL myself, which they didn't give and kept repeating the same thing without offering any acknowledgement or even apology.

What do I expect them to do? Deliver next day when you pay for next day. It's now next day. And the box is still here. Use a courier that isn't so crap and has a phone number.

    What's your stake in this?
