    Freight Search http://www.freightsearch.com/parcel.php

This lot are good I've just gone with them for an envelope of documents door to door to the Philippines they use TNT and charge £33 - Fedex wanted £42 and DHL £56. The guy told me they do good deals on UK domestic parcels via DHL

well as I now live in Canada I rely on good solid information to get courier prices. I checked freightsearch and the web site just stalls every time. Thanks for the link though, is anyone else having a problem?
Currently 4 me its Rogers Contract cell phone, REBTEL.COM is the best mobile making and receiving calls to/from UK and Canada:beer:

I've been following this and the original thread since the beginning and I think it's blatently obvious that a number of the posts are from users who's sole existence on this site has been to praise a given, usually obscure courier company. If this was the Courier Saving Expert site, I could understand this, but it's hardly the place where people are just gonna stumble across a courier related post on their first visit and think "my god, what a coincidence, I just *must* let all these wonderful people know about this *amazing* courier company I just used...".

Obviously you can't stop it but, maybe worth noting on the OP that the thread has a suspiciously large number of first posters seemingly advertising companies, and to only trust more frequent posters and general feedback instead of just "ACME Couriers FTW!" type posts.

The only thing it has going for it is at least it's obvious. The biggest problem on this thread is people false trying to discredit other companies, see claire12's posts and many on the old thread.

This is much harder to spot, takes more time to do so and normally embroils you in a war of words and gets pretty ugly. And for people who aren't clued up they won't know what to think or who to believe. For people scanning through a couple of FAILED COLLECTION!!! posts have more of an affect than any positive post.

The only way round this I think is if we all keep an eye out for people telling porky pies about a company and for other blatant marketing ploys. I also possibly propose having a group of members who regularly frequent this thread who can be trusted as thread stalwarts, these names will be added to the first post and will be a point of trust and authority for the thread. I don't know what anyone thinks????

As for freightsearch, we don't use them, but we have I contact with them and they are not a bad group of guys. They are more set up for higher volume and can offer more specialised solutions so I'm not really sure this thread represents their target market. For those with biggish volumes it may well be worth contacting them and seeing what they can offer, they have regional managers so will probably pay you a visit if you wish. You can also mention that spamming this thread is not called for!
  • Still haven't explained this claire12?

i think i am going to try another courier, and will ask for a refund from them as a collection tomorrow is no good when i needed it today, they is a reason why i pay for a 24hr service.
So you obviously made the booking this week right?

No you didn't because consignment number 30323 was booked on 8th of August!!

Your business obviously needs some extra customers, but with laughably poor attempts like this I am not surprised. All the best.
  • My opinion (and I send 50+ parcels per week)
PPW are fine when things run smoothly @ £6.95 per parcel.
It's when things don't go fine that you hit the snags.

For that reason, I choose to use UK courier express because their customer service is second to none (especially Jane who goes above and beyond all expectations....If you're reading this.......thank you Jane).

I would rather pay a little bit extra and get the service that I expect than pay a bit less and get an inferior service.

what a joke, sorry but i dont know you and i don't think i need to explain myself to you!!

as i said you are trying to discredit members who say what they think.
can you explain how you don't work for the certain company????

claire12 please stop this silly discussion. I'm really annoyed with all your posts.
Everyone knows that you work for DPD. I don't think that after reading your posts someone will ever use DPD's services.
Go somewhere else with all these funny comments.

FreightSearch.com NOW offer £5.99 for UK mainland to UK mainland services!! With fuel prices increasing, this is a great DEAL. Regular senders can achieve even better prices!
With dimensions 20x50x50 and weight 30kg cheapest option is for £10.99 plus VAT.

I am also annoyed by their posts. It's so obvious that they are a DPD employee  (amongst their many other aliases)
DPD is one company that I would NEVER recommend.

I have to speak as I find.
DPD are even worse than Home Textiles and that should speak volumes.......

  • Hi Folks

We've had a spate of emails in reference to this threads from all sides claiming all other posters are promoting a company. Frankly, it's impossible for us to prove the difference between recommendation and promotion in this context and if we remove one side we will have to remove all.

We don't want to stop the feedback and ways to save money. However, if we see the same poster either recommending or replying to one company over and over again and it seems excessive we may choose to remove posts. I hope you can all appreciate how difficult this would be and post responsibly.

    There you go Claire12
Carte blanche authority from those on high to promote DPD til your hearts content, so go for it

Shame for DPD that the majority of us as mere members can see straight through DPD and their many user names;)

  • >> I also possibly propose having a group of members who regularly

sounds good but maybe they'd need to be people who use a number of different couriers in order to actually have views on them that people can read about and can actually compare them usefully.

    >> PPW are fine when things run smoothly... It's when things don't go fine
    >> that you hit the snags.

my experience with a single failed collection (out of maybe 4 bookings) from them was really good, it basically involved me sending a single email in the evening saying "no one turned up" and one from them the next morning saying "rebooked". couldn't be simpler. ymmv i spose.

    Ooh, just saw this:
    COMPANIES TO AVOID
    Direct Parcel Delivery/Direct Parcel Distribution
Constantly flood this and the previous thread with spam or false claims about other companies and to top it off their service is poor, and that is being kind.

Armitage, I dunno if that should be there, I can understand you having a personal thing against them but regardless of that I doubt it has much affect on their business, I recon they should be judged on their actual performance and price as couriers in the main list regardless of what they may or may not get up to in the comments as it doesn't make them any less of a courier company (I did use them once and they were fine), maybe poor individuals but hey, would we use any companies based on whether we liked the owners or not? well there is sony... :p

actually that might be something to do with all the listings, are the "Positive: really nice people" things really needed? maybe if you stick to facts, and possibly just stick things in alphabetical order so people can make up their own mind about who's cheapest for their needs. might stop the companies frequenting this thread from getting so upset about things too.

    eg:
    Express Packages Deliveries (Ebay)
    Booking Cut-off 9AM £50 Insurance Parcelforce

    24hr £8.99
+ Superb service, couldn't recommend strongly enough
    - Cut-off time, manually booked- but we've have never had a problem
superb service is speculative, the cut off time isn't necessarily a negative, neither is manually booked and whether you've had a problem is irrelavent (others may). if you just give the booking cut off time, and state you have to manually book, people can make up their own mind about whether they'd find the service useful, and ACME Couriers Inc don't need to get !!!!ed off that EPD are being recommended over them, and EPD won't be annoyed that their cut off which is no doubt later than a large number of unamed companies is being marked down.

that said i find the info useful myself. :money:

I fully agree with you pepsi_max2k.

Armitage did you know that when you send two or more parcels abroad with PPWEXPRESS and total weight exceeds 60kg you have to book these at least 48 hours in advance.
I can't say much about EPD as I have never had a chance to use their service but apart PPW I also use Interparcel and they offer really wide choice of couriers to use including UPS, TNT, City Link and DHL. They also offer very helpfull automatic system to change bookings over the phone plus you can track parcels directly on their side.
PPW doesn't offer authomatic invoicing system while you get authomatic invoice and address labels with Interparcel.
It is also worth to mention Parcel2Go as they offer extensive range of services i.e. you can get US or Chinesse address it is very helpfull for people who like to buy things from US and China as some sellers don't want to ship their products to UK.
Parcel2Go offers wide range of international deliveries and lots of promotions i.e. this week you they offer 5% discount on deliveries to US this is coupon code by the way USA5OFF.

Armitage I really think it is worth to update main thread and stop to promote only PPWEXPRESS as other brokers offer wide range of services as well.

    Hope this was helpfull.
