I have made a tomato soup from Jamie's 30 minute meals. As there was only a bit of balsamic vinegar left in the bottle I stuck in all in. This has made the soup very sweet! I have eaten a dish but I know my OH will not eat it like it is.
Is there anyway of sorting it out? I don't really like tomato soup and only made it for him really - gutted I messed it up

Chilli powder ?

I does have a chilli in it already - would more really cancel out the sweetness?0

I'm not really sure but wouldn't adding a bit of lemon juice cancel out some of the sweetness? Just keep tasting as you add so its not lemon and tomato0
-
Have you got a tin of toms handy? maybe if you blitzed them up & added them maybe it would dilute the sweetness?0

I've had a similar problem today. Was using up veg to make a soup, but the red pepper and swede made it a bit sweet. I've just stirred in some brown sauce (like Daddies sauce) and it tastes perfect now.0

what about some soy sauce to season it? That's what I would do, then more liquid if needs be. (toms/stock/kettle water!)
Ill merge this with our soup problems thread later for you

A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

my first thought was vinegar. or worcestershire sauce. or a good squeeze of lemon juice! anything really sharp you can add in small quantities which wont upset the rest of the balance of the soup!0

I'd go with the lemon juice or vinegar but also a little salt and pepper if its not already salty!0
