Another vote for sweet potatoes or lentils and boil with the lid off, then let it settle and skim off any excess water.

Hi
Organising myself to make soup tonight and then freeze. Have some cherry tomatoes in fridge which are desperate to be used. Anyone used them in veg soup before? Don't really want to chuck them, but if I can put them in the soup, together with everything else I can lay my hands on (which also includes some leftover rice) and is going to be liquidised, can't really see it being an issue.
Any thought?A smile costs little but creates much0 -
I haven't but I can't see why it would cause problems. I'd go for it.0

Seconded xrjtg. Reckon it'll intensify the flavour - yummy!Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,

Aha fridge clearance soup - yes use the little toms but don't be surprised if they float like little beach balls - taste ok though. If you're going to liquidise it'll be fine.0

Hi All
I have a problem with my leek and potato soup - it tastes bitter
I used my own chicken stock (from carcass) plus cube, water, potatoes, leeks, herbs, s&p...
I have never had this happen to me before but its not very nice.
I have added about half a pint of full cream milk and a big dollop of butter, served up a bowl with some grated cheese on top and its edible but not up to my usual standard and I have no idea why.
Any ideas from you lovely lot?
(forgot to say, I did it in the SC for the first time but don't see how that would alter it)0 -
Could the milk have perhaps been slightly off?:cool:0

No, i added the milk because it already tasted so bitter and I thought the milk would help, and it has a bit.0
