    1. Do you need a seperate line for this? I have a line but do not use it other than for my broadband. Will this do? Does it have to be a business line?

    Yes you do

    2. VAT - This is a real puzzler for me! I used to be self employed and did all my tax returns myself and never used an accountant. Do you need to use an accountant to calculate your VAT or can you do this yourself? £50.00 a month to an accountant to do this for is not something I would want to do.

You can calculate your VAT with no problems, especially if this is your only self employment

    3. Is the job now closed until March?

Don't know its closed at the moment though

    4. What do you need already set up before applying? I currently use wireless network on my laptop but my husband is in the process of wiring this into the spare bedroom so I will be wired into the internet. Already got a headset and corded phone, got a quiet room I can work from. Anything else needed?

it tell you here what you need

Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • Hi All

I haven't had any shifts for the last 2 weeks as my availability is usually set between 9am-4pm which they have not needed anyone for the last 2 weeks :o( I'm not really into working saturday/sunday so don't really know what i'm gonna do.. Looks like 1st March is the same also!

So you go to all the trouble of setting up a Ltd company and then NO hours do you think it was worth it??

You don't have to setup a limited company.

As to the worth it, it is risky for sure if it is to be a full time job, but then again there is a lot of turmoil out there in employment world anyway.
I am out of the equation at the minute as I am moving.

I was working evenings and weekends and I would say that at least 75% of the time shifts were available.

I will be back on in a couple of weeks and I would expect that trend to continue.

Depends what you want to work  if it is 10 - 2 weekdays then no might well not be worth it.

  • Sadie11 - As Martin says you don't need to set up a ltd company for this one. I know you did for the Arise jobs. This was just to register yourself as self employed. It has turned out though that the position is turning to evenings and weekends eve 6-9pm weekends Sat/Sun 7am-8pm So if you are looking for part time during these hours its defo worth it. They may may change this its just obviously gone quiet.

I have been working 9-4pm 4-5 days a week since Nov and its a shame they've cut their avalability down so much as I was told there would always be shifts for during the day. I don't see how they are going to recruit anyone else though as there doesn't seem to be enough shifts.

Contractxchange also have another UK contract which I was passed to go onto the training however i missed the training dae and not sure if there is anymore.. Did anyone get on he training?
  • Hi everyone.I have left British Gas back in Jan.I found it was not worth it what with the systems crashing and paying out for contract xchange,VAT etc. Reading this I'm glad I resigned as the availability has gone for weekdays.I'm glad I did have the other phone line put in though as I now work on the phone as a psychic medium and love it! I've always had this gift so decided to go for it.If I hadn't have had the phone line in I more than likely would have put doing this job off.So at least something positive did come out of the situation!

I am interested in this, but I wonder whether because my credt history is lousy (that's why I would lik the job!) will that rule me out from the start do you think?
Also, I am in my late 50's - do you think they are ageist?

    thanks
    Stop looking for answers....
The most you can hope for are clues.....:)
  • I did this for a number of months. Started off with loads of promise but completely let down by system. Did nothing but freeze.
It doesn't help that their IT dept is in Canada so they try to remedy everything over emails, phones, etc. DOESN'T WORK!
Spent months with them just guessing at the problem without actually getting anywhere!
    HARDLY EARNED A PENNY!
    Great idea! Poor implementation!
Also, shifts were greatly reduced and the promise of more clients was not forthcoming.
    REALLY LET DOWN!!
  • I got recommended this company can you please tell me if its legit, or if you currently work for them, and how is it going.

    Thanks

I came across this company, whilst looking for ideas for home working, If anyone has any comments about them I'd appreciate it also!
