Rang BA about special deals they say they are offering people who were supposed to be flying with Zoom. They said they were offering £50 off. Then proceeded to quote me a fare (pre-discount) that was around £50 per person more expensive than the fare I could get via their website. Of course you can't get the discount anyway if you book online. Seems like a bit of a con to me. Booked with Air Canada in the end. Worked out around the same price as our Zoom tickets as Air Canada have a sale on at the moment.

Odd, were they definately the exact same flight? We got tickets through BA and they were the same price as the website, plus £50 per person off. As the website currently has a sale, worked out pretty damn cheap.

But make sure its exactly the same flight, different days and times will have different prices

I'd never heard of the extra that you can claim, and wonder if anyone knows more about it.

"The claim is not limited to the amount of the credit card transaction. Customers can claim for all losses caused by the breach of contract or misrepresentation. And this applies even if all they paid by credit card was the deposit."

The important bit is "all losses" !

It's all here:-

Our invoice/e-ticket receipt states Zoom Airlines inc, with address in Ottawa. Is that the same for everyone? Do I put Zoom Airlines inc or Zoom Airlines Ltd on the chargeback form? Used my visa debit card from Nationwide BS.

Sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but I wanted to let you know that we got out money back from the Nationwide when Oasis airlines went bust. We'd paid with Visa Debit and Nationwide were very quick to process the form and return the money.

Now I'm in the process of booking flights for next year and I've learned from our experience. This time I'm booking through an ATOL-bonded agent (not directly with the airline because this offers no protection) and will also be taking out insurance that covers insolvency. (BIG thanks to the person who posted the few companies who do this, most of them don't.)

I'm also going to be paying £150 of the cost with a credit card, as from the OP, it seems that that will cover us for the whole cost and replacement tickets. Can anyone reassure me I've understood this correctly?

I just spent half an hour on the phone to Halifax trying to start the Visa debit chargeback procedure and the call centre woman was adamant that it doesn't exist and that only credit cards are covered, even claiming to have asked their manager about it. They've already applied to Zoom's receivers for a refund on my behalf, but I don't hold much hope of that coming through.

I've taken their complaints address, as the article advises to write a letter of complaint to the bank and to Visa. Where can I find a Visa address to send it to? What else should I do?

We went up to our local branch yesterday. The very helpful assistant knew exactly what were talking about, and did the form for us. We have a copy of the form which clearly states "Chargeback" on it.

Hmm, I get the feeling you've been lucky with this. I'll pop into a branch near work tomorrow and see what they say.

Fingers crossed!
• Hello everyone. I need help. I booked my tickets through the Zoom Airlines website using my ITALIAN MasterCard.

I live in the UK, and have therefore asked my family in Italy to contact my Italian bank to ask for a refund. Does anyone know whether section 75 of the consumer credit act extends to or has an equivalent in other European countries (Italy, more specifically)?

Please help, as my Italian bank is currently saying that the insurance on the card does not extend to include an airline going bankrupt.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well, perhaps, but it's still no guarantee...

• My husband has bought three flights to go out to Canada in September, they were all bought on the flyzoom website, and paid for on a Maestro card.. can we get the money back or now? If so how do we go about starting the ball rolling. It was a very large sum of money to be out of pocket!

Thanks for your help
