  • I'm going for £200 this month. Had a rubbish start as hadn't got anything in on tuesday night and ended up spending £14 straight off (that's normally 3 days!) argh! I'll have to try harder to make up for it.
A few receipts never got added in either

Had to go to Asda this morning, and In basically bouight rubbish, im so mad with myself:mad: . I bought yogurts and cooked meat, im an ice cream fanatic, and they were doing their Special make Ice cream for £2, so, I bought 2 tubs:o , and I bought biscuits. Im afraid my baking isnt brilliant, and the kids moan when I bake biscuits and cakes rather than buy shop bought ones, BUT, i am working on it, havent given up hope of converting them.

So, Im afraid I was £16.60, at the Asda today.

Must try harder, must try harder must try harder.

Thanks for bumping that request Pink Winged. I was going to mention it as only 51 people have voted on the poll so it would be great to get some more thoughts and ideas so we can keep this great thread a success.

  • Hi all!

I popped in to change my siggy and hyperventilate about the amount we spent on shopping. :rotfl:

However, we did have friends for dinner and my OH wanted to cook a roast which meant buying a £14 beef joint from Sainsburys.. There is enough left for us to have another meal tonight but it was still a lot of money! However, we were given carrots and runner beans from the FIL garden so the veg were free.

Apart from milk I am hoping to have a NS week, so will check in again in a few days. I hope everything is going well for everyone with their own personal targets.

    *hugs* to all

To be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough.

  • Hi everyone,

Recently some people have been finding it difficult to take part in the Grocery Challenge because of the sheer volume of posts. The board guides are looking at this and trying to come up with a solution that will be acceptable to the majority of people who post on the GC.

We are trying to gather as many opinions as possible so if you have any ideas or suggestions, please will you post on this thread: Grocery Challenge Thread Options

    Thanks,

    Pink

I think it would be good if you changed this font colour (can you do that on edit?) as I nearly missed it as I was just skim reading, off to look at the other thread now :)

  • Hi, I've been reading this thread for a while and tried some of the recipes.
I've just been reading Take a Break, which I try every week in the faint hope of winning something, anyway in the cookery section is the headline credit crunch meals, guess what is considered cheap -trout fish cakes - costed at £6.92 for 4 people and lancashire hot pot using lamb chump chops - costed at £7.24 for 4 - do you think they are having a laugh, I must admit when I'm cutting back I don't immediatly think of buying trout!!!!

    Hi guys

I was given some runner beans yesterday - or maybe they are green beans...anyway they were given to my parents by their neighbour and when I asked my mum where they had come from she said I could have them.

Is there anything I can do with them other than cut them up and steam/boil them? Some of them look big and thick and tough whereas others look slimmer and are softer. I thought for a minute that they might have broad beans in them cos some had giant lumps in but I popped one open and the thing inside was only small.

    Any ideas appreciated!

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?
