I am well jealous of all those amazing whoopsies ! My local Asda rarely seems to reduce the prices by more than 20p. And bearing in mind the initial cost of most of those items... I just glance and walk past now. Bargains they ain't.

Still, I managed to come in just under budget this month, and bearing in mind that this was my first GC ever, and that we used to spend some £100 more each month - and that was since we tightened the purse strings and our belts - I am very proud of myself :)

I declare £247.37 spent for September, and am off to trawl through my recipe to see where I could shave off costs before settling on the October budget.

Well, I know where I could, but I jolly well won't, not unless things get much tougher. We drastically reduced eating out, pretty much gave up the pub, and our home-consumed booze comes under the grocery budget.... £68.75 of it this month. Eeek ! Still, good to know there is something to give up if times get tougher, eh ?

The rest of September's money went on toiletries (£21.38), cat (£19.26), medicines (£21.38 - OH had a chest infection), and only £120.80 of the lot went on food.

    Blinkin' alcoholics, ain't we... ?
  • Ok - am declaring September as below budget. Lost some receipts over the weekend so am rounding up.

Hit Netto so have stocked up on stuff from there and also went to a pyo place and got lots of fruit.

Declaring at £184.10 from a budget of £220.

Will pop over to Octber thread and set new budget.

Good luck to all - hope you were in under budgets!

  • Went to Asda, got some more whoopsies (11 yoghurts for 5p each which are dated October 28th :D, couple of 40p tarka dhals for me :D) plus a razor for OH and some other bits (Smart price grapes for a quid which are lovely..posh Kenco columbian instant which was reduced to £2 instead of the usual £3.38.. a tiramisu for a huge treat later..:o :p) which all in all came to £16. So I am declaring Sept as a success: £136 (£66 under :T) Bit of a disaster though, OH in his infinite wisdom turned off the power to the extension lead the SC is plugged into so our lovely sausage casserole has not been cooking for 2 hours  have whacked it on high for a bit then down to medium and hopefully it should be ready for 7 ish. Men!!

Freezer is full, OH gets paid Tues but should be able to stretch a week at least before we go to Lidl so our £160 October budget is looking pretty sweet.

Just wanted to say thanks to all here on OS who have inspired me so much. I hope I can do the same for others xxx

Final total for September was £87.22 but that includes the bulk buys that I took advantage of whilst visiting Mr T. My freezer is jam packed, my cupboards & fridge are packed and the storeroom is full.

Please count me in for £50 in October and, as we are hoping to be moving house in the next month or so (fingers crossed), we'll be concentrating on rotating the contents of the freezer so there isn't too much to move when the time comes. I suspect there'll be many, many apple sponges and plenty of meals served with mashed potato, as the garden produce has been mounting up slowly. :D

Hi everyone - have just updated my sig and although I am not going to declare until Tuesday I have decided to set myself a target of £325 for October please Mrs M. I reckon that I have just Under £6 to last till 1st October, though I will need some more bananas and salad stuff. I have run close to the wire but the last week my plans were stymied by my DD1 being ill and coming home to be looked after - and it was a 5 week month for me. I managed 15 NSDs out of 34 - so not too bad really. My new month will run from 1st to 28th October.

Well done everyone and thanks for your inspiration.

£212.17 - This is under my 4 weeks at £55 per week, I was 33p over this week, over last week but lots under the first two weeks. Averaged out over the month I spent less than the weekly amount.

I hardly spent anything in August or the first two weeks of Sept, I really used up what we had in the cupboards/freezer. They are now really bare and I'm not sure if I can keep to the budget since my shopping list is so long for tomorrow.
Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!
  • This was the first month we have done this and what a shock I budgeted at £300

but I wish to declare at £400 for September.

Please put me down for £375 for October.

We did get better as the month went on & the figure includes all food & household items, wine & takeaways
