  • Total spend for Sept is £184.67 :D from a £200 budget. Not nearly as good as last month but not too bad considering my budget includes all my cleaning stuff too and I had to stock up on that this month.Still making the reduced cabinets my first stop daily, sometimes twice a day(I am lucky that DD,s school is in the town centre so that makes it easier),and it is making a big difference to the budget. If I had a bigger freezer I could take better advantage of the reduced bakery items though.
Spending less all round because of this web site.We had a movie night last weekend with a £1 film from wh smiths and 2 packs of microwave popcorn reduced to 30p each in tesco.
Still spending on take-aways too :o so will do home made take-away this month instead to save some money there, stir fry and pizza probably(not on the same plate).

Hi, not been on for a while, had lots of internet problems; keep losing connections, its soooo annoying.

Would like to declare for September £399.11, I usually shop by calendar month, but for convenience am doing a big shop tomorrow which will really be for October. Planned on doing shop Tues as usual but kids needs lifts etc and can't fit in.

Please can I be in for October at my usual £400, might struggle a bit as i need to stock up on Easiyo, DS only eats this sort of yoghurt and it has to be strawberry, usually buy in bulk to lessen the cost a little.

I really need to try and lower this, although since joing in May every month I have come in lower than I spent last year. Saved £275 in 5 months, not a lot I know, but going in the right direction.
Don't know where you buy from but I use either www.yogurtdirect.co.uk or www.wahlshop.co.uk both are cheaper than high street even allowing for p&p.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).

  • just a flying visit and quick update. Been back at work full-time for the last couple of weeks so had no time for MSE Boo hoo. Grocery challenge not going that well either, probably because I'm not focused enough or making the effort to get onto the forums to get me some motivation. £34 over after first two weeks of September just on groceries. Overall spending (budget £460 for the 2 weeks) is nearly £100 over and I can't really account for any major extravagences, its got me a bit puzzled really. We've been out to lunch a couple of times, DH bought a bottle of Jamesons and we've bulk-bought some washing powder, but still nowhere near finding £100 of overspends.

I'm blaming it on diesel costs for DH's new car - cos I can't face trying to cut down on the groceries any more as there's already revolt over the blandness of the stuff we're getting from Asda and DH is campaigning for us to start doing the weekly shop in M&S again.

We're still managing to just about stay within our original £300 pw budget for all household expenses but the aim was to cut down on that drastically so feeling a wee bit fed up!
