Well thats the final shop for me and have gone slightly over. Last posting was £256, however had to add £9.50 for fish shop (!!!!!!!!!!) what a price, plus £7.80 for butchers and then today a further £1.85 for stardrops and pledge, and Tesco was more than anticipated as they had very few blue stripey products I was looking for eg currants, sultanas, etc, so that took me over and my#moc's didnt all work so spent £45.75 total for month now comes in at £320 - still better than previous months:T ! I pledge £300 again for October,
    Every days a School day!

  • :( Well this was the first month I tried this and we did have several takeaways that i have included so i need to declare at £556 -:( so £106 over which to be honest is £150 cheaper than the last 4 weeks of August so thats good - plus i have cupboards full of food and a full freezer so my budget for October will be £450 again - I did plan meals but never seemed to follow them with working late and other stuff that came up so back to the drawing board and hopefully October I can knock off the extra £150.

I have also invested in a slowcooker off ebay for £4.21 just need to pick to up (about 1/2 an hour away) so that should make meals easier when I am working.

Phew! Hadn't realised I'd not logged on all week, so I've had a lot of catching up to do (I have to read every post otherwise I'm terrified of missing a fantastic moneysaving tip :o)

I am doing calendar months now, so 3 days left to go and just over £14 left in the pot. Got everything I need for the meal plan for these last few days, so I may actually do it this month :) And that's including the un-planned takeaway last night, as I was busy til gone 8:30 and OH was too ill with man-flu to cook

Just picked what could reasonably be described as a "crop" of runner beans from my plants :j I've blanched them, so they are now cooling/drying before they go in the freezer.

I've worked out my meal plan for next month. Have my Mum coming down for a few days, so there will be an extra mouth to feed, but I'm fairly confident that I can cut the budget back a bit more and still manage. Can I be put down for £300 for October, please Mrs M I'll declare what I've spent for September on Tuesday when the budget really does finish (just in case there are any grocery emergencies in the next 3 days!)

Hi, not been on for a while, had lots of internet problems; keep losing connections, its soooo annoying.

Would like to declare for September £399.11, I usually shop by calendar month, but for convenience am doing a big shop tomorrow which will really be for October. Planned on doing shop Tues as usual but kids needs lifts etc and can't fit in.

Please can I be in for October at my usual £400, might struggle a bit as i need to stock up on Easiyo, DS only eats this sort of yoghurt and it has to be strawberry, usually buy in bulk to lessen the cost a little.

I really need to try and lower this, although since joing in May every month I have come in lower than I spent last year. Saved £275 in 5 months, not a lot I know, but going in the right direction.

  • That'll teach me to declare early. My son is coming up to see me and dd unexpectedly tomorrow and I said I'd do lunch. Only something light so I decided on spicy sweet potato soup with salad and baguettes. Had most of the ingredients in but went to Asda to get extra "just in case". Spent about £14 but some of that was for the dog so didn't count, only a couple of items will be for lunch tomorrow (baguette and creme fraiche dollop on the soup), and some were items I'd put down for my first October spend so am going to knock those off and put the rest down to entertainment! One of those items was strawberries and they had Smart Price (which aren't wonderful but not the worst I've tasted) at 74p instead of 98p so bought two of those.

Whilst I was in Asda I noticed they now have a range of organic flour at 99p for 1kg - bread, plain and self raising. Obviously not as cheap as their own brand range, but still cheaper than Dove's Farm so plan to include this in my shopping.
