Hi everyone - I've not posted very often recently as I have been really stressed out with my new job. The job isn't that stressful but being on redeployment has been a worry. ~Have beeen notified that today I have been made Permenant:jso feeling somewhat relieved - we can afford to eat :rotfl:

Am well on target with the GC, I finish on Monday night, but I have ordered 1/2 a pig to collect tomorrow:D I have no idea how much it is going to cost but I will make up my mind when I have paid for it how I am going to figure it in the totals, I'll probably reduce the next couple of months targets to cover it. (mind you if the pig is any good I will try a 1/2 lamb soon!!)

Thanks, AngelAtGraceland for the advice. Think I'll over estimate just in case. To be honest I have no idea what I spend at the moment. I'll be saving all my receipts and have done a spreadsheet to add it all up. (I have a thing about spreadsheets!!) :rotfl:

I'm guilty of having a sneaky latte on the way to work, buying my lunch instead of making it or getting a takeaway on the way home if I finish late. It's more out of habit than anything else. However, I'm committed to becoming a money saving expert so I'm up for the challenge. And there's plenty on here to keep my motivation going!!

I will declare September at £201.28, which is £1.28 over so not too bad at all.

Mrs M can I please be in for £250 for Oct as it is a 5 week month and I have next to no meat left.

My pickles, jams and preserves have been going well and I now have:

    10 jars mincemeat
    3 jars plum jam
    3 jars blackberry jam
    4 jars sweet ratatouille chutney
    3 jars red pepper relish
    4 jars pickled beetroot
5 jars lemon & lime marmalade
    5 jars mango chutney

I have bought quite alot of sugar for making these preserves but it will help in the long run as I won't be buying the actual preserves, which will be overly processed.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman

Hi there, have come in at £150, which is well under but I hoped I would! I overestimated on purpose, so I feel good about it but can do better if I try. My personal challenge is not to use the credit card at all for groceries.

Could you put me down for £150 in October please, many thanks.
  • Morning all

Well this seems to have been a bit of a disasterous month and although my month should end on 30th I would like to end it now so I am declaring at £415.00 for month. Can I please be put down for £370 for October.

That should last me till 28th for the 4 of us. (Really hope I don't fail again as I can't afford to with DH just losing his job).

Hope everyone has a nice day

  • Morning all. I'm new to this so my budget this month will probably be completely wrong! But here goes anyway......

Please put me down for £150 for October!!!

No special occasions this month but it IS a 5 week month for me which is always a nightmare. Just have to keep OH out of the shops and away from the junk food!

Stocked up on big shop yesterday so probably have enough meal makings. Will just need to go once or twice a week for fresh suff. Fingers crossed......

  • Hi everyone,

Sorry to have not been posting much since the beginning of the month - life has been getting in the way a bit! Anyhow, I managed to stay within my first ever Grocery Challenge budget for September with 34p to spare! :j I am dead chuffed! So I am declaring £119.66 for September. For October I need to start menu planning as I think I could cut this down quite a bit. Still, I am very pleased.

Please could I be put down for £120 for October.

    Good luck one and all!
