I've finished my Sept Challenge now so can declare £304:16..a smidge over, but I've got a few bits for crimbo in that. Look all set for a trip to MrA tomorrow so fingers X it'll be a 50p bonanza....

I'll stick to £350 for Oct please MrsMc, cuz I need to stock up on white vinegar & reduced salt/sugar baked beans for a start :o

  • I did a meal plan for the month last night and showed it to hubby. He was impressed with egg and chips making an appearance!

I splurged today and bought an Actifry from Atlantic for £117 inc delivery - I plan to save that much on groceries next month.

My first delivery for October is due on Tuesday evening (if that makes any sense!) I struggled to get it up to £50 to use a voucher. That is all the store cupboard stuff done and only fresh to buy for the rest of the month.

  • Just a quick one...

Got an email from MrS inviting me back to shop with a £15 off a £60 spend - quite good I thought!

So have ordered a whole wodge of stuff to be delivered on the afternoon we get back from the US (Friday 10th Oct) - I think I've ordered enough meat for the rest of the month (OH only, I'm a veggie) and plenty of veggie options, milk, cheese, eggs, some veg, loads of tins, baking things, pasta, rice etc and some household bits. The only thing I haven't got is fruit as I like to go and have a looka nd choose what I fancy at the time.

In theory this should last at least 2 weeks and only mean buying F&V in the interim but with my track record who knows!:p I'll wait to update my Oct total until I've had a smallish shop tomorrow to last this week (going next weekend) and then see what Mr S actually charges (the checkout value was about £52 I think).

I'm quite pleased with myself- thinking and planning ahead is not usually my forte but this means saving £15 (or getting £15 worth of free stuff depending which way you think about it) and having food delivered when I'll be tired and jetlagged and won't want to face the shops.;)

Anyway a mini shop (famous last words!) planned for tomorrow - I notice that my MrT now has the marketvalue stuff in so we may give that a try.

    Have a good weekend

  • Mrs M Please put me down for £350 for October

Cutting back to £70pw, its a 5 week month for me.
Cutting back a bit in October hopefully as I will be home more with more time to cook and mealplan. Preparing my Saturday trifle now and thawing out Sundays chicken. Chicken curry tonight. Im using:
    2 enormous chicken breasts,
    2 jars value curry,
    4 teaspoons curry powder,
1 teaspoon chilli(I add it eto everything)
    2 onions
    1 pepper from my garden
    1 cup of broth mix
2 tins stirfy veg(only 5p each as shortdated)

Just done a taste test and its good! Just need to boil some rice and find the frozen naan breads I bought ages ago reduced. I was going to make the naan but think Id better use up some of my frozen stuff. Curry made 6 very generous helpings.
Just put on the yoghurt maker also as it will make a change from value yoghurts!

Ive now added 2 potatoes which I cubed and fried with the chicken which was also cubed. Naan bread hhhas disappeared! One of the kids is culprit so Im using the garlic bread instead.

Havent spent any more this week-only 61.16 so I'm under budget again!
Total for month is:£218.35-I've been under budget every single week this month so it more than makes up for being a bit over last month.Averaging just £54.59 each week for September! Truly, I can't believe it! Another NSD today. Now going to postpone my Asda order-again ;+)
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults

That's September's shopping over for me. I went to Mr S this Wednesday and spent £23.46. Wilkinson's (mainly for fat balls) £9.46 and bought some veg on the market for £3.32. I've actually come in under budget this month.

October is going to be a 5 week month so I'm allowing £180. Hubby doesn't think we can do it - I aim to come in way under. (Fingers crossed)

 Okey dokey... I've just done the big add up and we've spent a grand total of £279.20 off a target of £350! :j :j

However... we have been given lots of free veg this month, plus I had a free fruit &veg box from Abel & Cole, AND I had pretty well stocked cupboards and freezer to begin with...

When I think of it like that I'm not quite so chuffed. :o

Still it's definitely LOADS better than it would've been without the GC so

    £350 for October please Mrs M! :T :A

    Love Jacks xxx :D
