Mrs M please put me down for £220 for Oct. Just a guess at this stage though I have a rough idea what we spend.

I am hoping October will be easier to budget for. We have stocked up on nappies due to a special offer this month so that should help and if I can get my younger son out of them during the day in October half term that will help even more. (My older son is on the autistic spectrum and is only recently out of nappies in the day and nowhere near ready for nights, so we go through a minimum of four nappies a day and often more). I have my meals planned and will be able to freeze some of the vegetables, fruit and meals in preparation for November as well.0

Morning Lovelies!
I've been missing your posts as well Mrs M! Just reading all that you've been up to kicks me up the bottom and into the kitchen!
I think as with so many things it's horses for courses.
I can get away with just reading posts most of the time and popping up for the occasional update because I've pretty much got the hang of this GC lark now.
I don't need to ask for much help - but I'm sadly in no way proficient enough to be much help to other people either.(I've sort of learned what suits our needs and no more and I am still a pretty rubbish cook!)
Some GC-ers need more help than I do which = more posts and some people have[strike] lots[/strike] [strike]loads [/strike] [strike]tons [/strike] eonsmore expertise than I do - and luckily you are very lovely peeps so having more to offer = more posts helping others out.
I know we're all being conscientious about the new rules but I don't want the GC to be the poorer for it. I post on the NSD challenge on DFW and god love us it's a dull old thread - but completely and unswervingly on topic! :rolleyes:I'd hate the GC to go that way.
This month we have mostly been eating out of the cupboards and freezer which have been uncharacteristically well stuffed so I've only had to buy fruit milk and bread most days plus a few packed lunch and baking supplies. I also bought some Lock and Lock plastic tubs to help me store meals in the freezer and leftovers in the fridge which will also come out of this budget.
Instead of keeping track of every penny I spend, I have been experimenting this time with trying to only buy what I need right this minute and I'll add it all up in a day or two and see how I've done. I have no idea where I'm at so far - which is a bit scary mary!

Hi all!
Just wanted to say we only have a few days left on our total but I think we will make it easily. I think I was too generous in my budget actually!
I have another Tescos order to arrive on Weds, though it's only for about £50. No joint ordered because if I remember correctly, the last weekend of the month will be the Marks & Spencer £10 deal and we always get a couple of them because the chickens stretch so far so it becomes really good value for us. I also ordered M & S vouchers from one of my survey sites that I had been saving up, so it will in effect be free food! :j
Will change my siggy on Weds when it arrives and I know how much it will be. I have ordered several Hovis bread mixes but no doubt they won't have any!
I hope everyone is doing well with their personal challenges. I think I will aim lower next month. My poor OH is stressing so badly at how much more money he is having to spend to keep the car running and he only uses it for long distance work stuff. His day job he cycles to! It's like they have taken a cut from his wages with the way petrol has gone up.
Anyway *hugs* to all

Regarding the Tesco butter for 50p - I bought some on Friday. The packet was foil based, with the traditional value trademark blue stripes on a white background. It was unsalted and was for 250g. There was also tesco value butter on sale for 79p I caouldn't see a difference, except for the packaging - which is greaseproof paper based, and more see through with the blue stripes on a white background?????
I was speaking to a sales assistant who told me they are phasing in a new discount range in a bid to compete with rivals such as aldi and lidl - perhaps this is part of that. The price wasn't advertised as a special offer.
HTH
The assistant I spoke to said 2 diff stores in the same town can have diff prices; never mind the north/south price difference.
The stupid thing is my internet shopping comes from this particular store and it is priced at 50p on the home shopping site.My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).

Heavens to Murgatroyde! I'm over for September by £99.18 most of which seems to be cold and flu remedies for OH (including Port and Brandy!).
Can I please be put down for £125 for October which should be achievable as the cat is sorted for catfood bar 24 sachets and OH is feeling healthy again and I've most of the meat left over in the freezer from last months shop so all I really need are soup veggies and stew veggies and even then there is loads of frozen veg in the freezer. I'm atttempting to get us away from the habit of having bacon, eggs, bread and beans every sat and sun morning as it will be cheaper to have porridge so there will be savings ther too. And I'm cutting down the alcohol.
Been smoke-free for nearly 6 weeks so I'm not cutting the alcohol out completely as that would be too much too soon.No outfit is complete without cat hair or baby vomit :j0 -
I would like to delcare £364.91 for September please. Again I was over grocery budget by £14.91 but I dont think this is as bad as it could have been but thanks to this challenge I managed to not go too over the top. Our extras budget however went waaaaay off as we were away at the weekend but I have told DH we will pull that money back next month from the extra and grocery challenge as I will come in on or under budget for a change!!
Thank you to all those who replied to my message last week, I did press the thanks button but didnt do individual replies as I didnt want to clog up the thread.
I would like to propose £340 for October please.
Off to catch up on the last 10 pages.2 adults and 3 children DD (14), DD (12) & DS (10) :smileyhea and 2 mental beagles.

Did the weekly shop last night and only spent £19 (£6.74 in Mr A and £12.01 in Lidl) so have made up the £4 I was over and am now under by £16. I will declare my total after next Mondays shop.
The only reason I spent so little however is because we sadly decided yesterday that we are going to have to rehome one of our dogs which we are really upset about so we didn't have much interest in food and are just having soup all week. We also got some nectarines free in Lidl (should have been £1.39) as they didn't have a barcode and the man serving us couldn't be bothered to get one so said we could have them! Hope everyone else is well xxxDS 1 born 12/02/2009DS 2 born 30/01/2012Married 07/07/07xx Love my boys xx0
