I'm not sure what breed of spud I'm using just lately SIZE=1]I buy them loose from the pet shop[/SIZE but twice now they have boiled dry & burned the pan  I'll have to see if there's any advice on cleaning enamelled saucepans cuz last night's offerings made a complete doozie of me bottom
Hopefully tho, Mr PetShop said Wilja [sp?] should be around in the next week or two--very much like Maris Piper/King Edwards so you get the lovely  fluffy mash & roasties, but considerably cheaper. Haven't decided yet if I'll buy a sack at a time again this year; TBH it would encourage me to walk a bit more if I had to go out for taiters
+ I don't have to store or worry about using them up before they go sleepy.

Mrs McCawber, will you put me down for £150.00 for October.
This is for 2 adults and a little greedy dog (all food, toiletries, cleaning stuff and dog food).
Thanks!0 -
Completely ruined my month this month
Overspent by about $30 and felt like the world was ending for a couple of days lol, obviously need to get out more
Think I will go for $100 next month, as $80 just didnt seem to be enough. In saying that, I am going to tear the house apart over the holidays soon (NZ holidays) and make lots of meals again and freeze em, and clear out freezer etc. Hopefully being more organised helps, it seems to have done in the past.
Hope everyone else has/ had a good month"Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without!!"Nov NSD: ?/30 Nov Make 10 Day ?/300Get Rid Of Debt: ?/2000 !! :mad:0 -

Also did a Lidl shop whoich was £20.Got one of thier chickens to try, hope it's nice!
Thats me for the month, have enough meat for at least a week next month and snacks for lunches all next month. I'll be back at uni 4 days a week so packed lunches again.Must get some exciting ideas!
I'm declaring at £118 so just under £120 but lots in store for next month.

Scotsaver - Only problem is I live out in the countryside and the only supermarket that's local is Asda, the next nearest is about a 30 - 40 minute drive so I'm a little bit limited as to where I can shop. There is a tesco near where I work so I sometimes pop into their after work, I guess I should compare them both a bit more to see who's cheaper.
Julimk - Thanks for the advice. I made a HUGE pan of ham broth last night ( I used to bring a tin of soup in every day to work ) which will easily last me all week for dinners and thinking about making some dumplings up and having it for tea tonight too. Only cost around £3 to make so i'm quite pleased with myself
Spent less than I thought at tesco's last night as well ( I popped in after work ) so with the £12.57 I spent last night it brings my total for September to £155.99. I won't be spending any more on food before I get paid ( I simply refuse to! ) so I'm only a little over what my intended budget will be!
Could you please put me down for £150 FOR OCTOBER and I'll see how it goes!GROCERY CHALLENGE!!October £150/£158.61

Hi all.
I will be coming in over budget this month - but I am now writing down everything that is spent on a spreadsheet. The kids (12 and 13) are now taking packed lunches again. Hubby is on board with the challenge. We now cook from scratch and are meal planning and bulking out food. All in all we have made some massive changes!
I think I have mainly gone over with buying baby bits, but I feel that spending is now under control - well, nearly.
I read Mbaz's thread on feeding a family on £20 which was very inspirational. I have made a meal plan for a whole month and priced it up - it came out at £150 so I think we should be able to make it for well under the £300 that I am prepared to spend - now that's amazing!
One thing that I have noticed is how many people seem to be partial to smoothies. I picked up a smoothie maker on freecycle. We use left over fruit, cheap yoghurt, milk, tinned fruit - whatever is to hand -to make our own smoothies and way cheaper than shop bought. I buy the large pack of value natural yoghurt and extra bananas to make it thicker -other than that we throw in what we fancy or whatever we have. A great way of getting fruit into the kids as well!
Hope everyone has a great day.First Direct Loan @ 7.9% £13,076.03/£20,250
