The Zoom website says that debit card holders can apply for a refund. I thought that credit card holders only would get a refund.

I (unfortunately) paid by debit card because it costs more to pay by credit card.

You should be able to recover VISA debit card payments via a chargeback. For some reason this works for VISA but not for other debit cards.

And all credit card payments are covered by section 75 CCA.

You should get a refund from the credit card operator relatively quickly and they should freeze the transaction on your account (i.e. not require payments and not charge interest) until the issue is resolved. Some do this by immediately refunding the transaction, and then only re-debiting it if they reject your claim.

Got flights with ba, Manchester to Heathrow, Heathrow to Seattle. Return flight Vancouver to Heathrow, Heathrow to Manchester. Still waiting for confirmation of price (as mate is arranging it all) but was around £550 return from what I can remember.

This suits us down to the ground as we were going to Seattle on the trip anyway!

    Good luck everybody else

Is there a time limit? We booked the flights back in March.
  • I had two return tickets booked with Zoom to fly from Manchester to Toronto in November. I had paid for this in full on my credit card and had settled the balance. I've called my credit card company and they have told me that they have passed this to their disputes department and that they will call me on Monday.

Can anyone confirm what legal rights people in this situation will have in terms of getting a refund through the credit card company?

I have flights booked for the 7th and 15th of september. I booked with a bank of scotland visa electron, so if I phone them tomorrow and explain they should be able to refund it?

I booked flights for next year, paying with a Nationwide credit card. I phoned them tonight and they said it would take several weeks for it to be sorted out. When I asked them to be more specific, they said it would probably be more than 2 months.
I've searched for replacement flights tonight but the cheapest price I've found is £600 more for 4 of us.
I feel so sorry for anybody stuck there now, or who was due to fly out soon
  • If anyone actually booked through a Travel Agent and had an atol receipt then there will be a refund from the CAA. This is especially the case if you booked two or more items on one invoice, such as car hire or an hotel. Then the Travel agent is the liable company. I am suprised that a "" debit "" card client is being advised there is a refund available? I also do not think there is any chance with an Electron card. this is the reason to ALWAYS book with a credit card, even though it might cost a bob or 2 more. FULL refund then.#

There is no time limit with credit card transactions, but VISA debit chargebacks must be requested within 120 days.
    Gone ... or have I?
