Zoom Airlines in Big Trouble [MERGED]

Is there a time limit? We booked the flights back in March.
No, there's not. You need to seek immediate advice from your card issuer, BUT you must speak to someone senior as general CSA's will not be aware of the chargeback scheme as it is not publicised, nor widely known about.
EDIT : Aplogies I misread this as 'Is there a Limit' - There is no limit on the amount, but there is on time !0 -
What you should have done is read the reviews on Zoom before booking a flight. Sorry to be an !!!!, but I hate this airline with a passion and I am dancing with joy at the fact it is going into administration.
For your purposes, even when they were in existence, their customer service had made the process of obtaining a refund for cancelled / rescheduled flights a 4 month process of trying to make you give up before legal action finally squeezed out a refund. Im sorry to say the likelihood of you getting anything from this particular bunch of scumbags is minimal. I think the only option is to contact your card issuer and see if they have anything that can help you.
Expect nothing from Zoom. Hugh Boyle and his empire of dirt was built on screwing people over. It will extend to his own employees now (im sure he'll be fine) but I feel no sympathy for Zoom employees, they were working at Zoom after all.0 -
I booked flights for next year, paying with a Nationwide credit card. I phoned them tonight and they said it would take several weeks for it to be sorted out. When I asked them to be more specific, they said it would probably be more than 2 months.
I've searched for replacement flights tonight but the cheapest price I've found is £600 more for 4 of us.
I feel so sorry for anybody stuck there now, or who was due to fly out soon
In the meantime though once you have officially disputed this charge under the CCA section 75 you are NOT obliged to pay, nor are the c/card company permitted to charge interest on the non payment until the matter has been resolved.
Legally, nationwide are jointly liable, therefore they CANNOT demand payment from you and any payment already cleared HAS to be refunded.0 -
I had two return tickets booked with Zoom to fly from Manchester to Toronto in November. I had paid for this in full on my credit card and had settled the balance. I've called my credit card company and they have told me that they have passed this to their disputes department and that they will call me on Monday.
Can anyone confirm what legal rights people in this situation will have in terms of getting a refund through the credit card company?
Section 75 of the Consumer Creditt Act 1974 covers you in FULL. The credit card company have acted correctly in passing this to their 'disputes' dept.0 -
The Zoom website says that debit card holders can apply for a refund. I thought that credit card holders only would get a refund.
I (unfortunately) paid by debit card because it costs more to pay by credit card.
Was it a VISA debit card or Maestro (Mastercard) debit card ? You have protection with VISA, not Maestro.0 -

Yes, you have rather been a bit of a "!!!" here. The forum member was looking for advice and help, not an unhelpful and irrelevant rant.
volks400, if your debit card is a Visa Delta (or Visa Electron) then there is still hope through a scheme called Visa Debit Card Chargeback Scheme. See below link for information and you are welcome to do your own Google research. If your debit card is operated through Visa then you can call your bank's debit card line and be sure to ask for a manager in their disputes department.

If you have a Maestro card then I cannot be of any help as I do not know of any similar schemes. Good luck.0 -
hi all, spoke to bank today and they will dispute on my behalf the debit payment made to zoom so fingers crossed they will do all the leg work and retrieve my pennies! so anyone else who has booked and paid for flights via debit cards, get in touch with bank and they should be abke to do something for you...however, they did say they didn;t know anything about this yet and would probably have to wait until they heard officially before trying creditors etci'm living in a parallel universe0

I paid for my flights with my Visa Debit card. Hopefully I'll get something back. I used my overdraft to book the flights and I read somewhere that this may be covered by the CCA as its a credit facility. Anyone have anymore info on it?0

No, it's NOT covered under the CCA and NO it's NOT a credit facility. It's covered under the VISA chargeback system. See above.0
