Hi a friend of mine who is chinese recommended to me yesasia.com for the psp, does anyone know if this will work okay?

Unfortunately as time is running out I had to buy the Giga pack from Game today.

Bought the pack and they gave me £12.50 for football game, exchange it for everybody's golf (new) which they took an extra £5 off, plus you get £7.50 worth of game card points which I was told that if I go back tommorow I can return golf and then they will re-sell it to me minus £7.50.

So I got PSP, 1GB card, Everybody's Golf & Ridger Racer for £279 not a great deal but its the best I could get.

Interestingly this was in Portsmouth where we have 2 GAME shops, the other shop (in Cascades) would only offer me £10 for football & would not discount the Golf game, they would not budge on this saying it was company policy.

Woolworths in-store have got Giga packs and with no arm twisting will allow you to swap the two games it comes with for any other two of your choice for £269.99. Not the best deal in the world but at least you can get games of your choice.

if i was to get an import white one from this site, does anyone know if it will play ALL uk games and the UMD movies that are sold over here ? im not willing tio pay £270 for a psp and 2 crappy games that i will probably never play, and at the moment this seems the only place to get the psp on its own

Yes it will. I know because I bought 2 for my sons a few weeks ago thanks to a link from someone on these boards and I have been extensively 'testing' them these past few days (just to make sure they work you understand!)

The two I bought are white and are imported from Japan but play the games I have purchased from Game and Costco no problem. I also know that we are the same region, 2, as Japan fro the UMD movies, so should be no problem there.

Oh, and I have to say I am MIGHTLY impressed by the quality of the screen on these PSP's - everyone who has seen it agrees it is stunning.

Please be aware that the GIGA PACK come with firmware of V2.01 or above.

This means that homebrew games can not be played on these versions.

To answer the above question about importing - japanese models should play all UK games and UMD's. USA models will play all games, but some UMD's are region protected.

And while it is just personal opinion - I think the white psp's don't look anywhere near as good as the originals. They just look a little...tacky. Try and look at one in real life, or at least real-life pictures rather than "posed" ones.

They almost certainly will be. All white PSP's are at least 2.0 and I think all giga packs are 2.01.

In the not too distant future games will be released that force an update to 2.01 - that has been the case with every firmware update at least. But it'll only be a matter of time until it gets hacked again anyway.

There are also V2.0 firmware games that will NOT work on the downgraded consoles with the "special" software.

GTA LCS is biggest name game.


I think that all the upgrading and downgrading will start to knacker a few PSP's up.

I am going to wait until the firmware updates slow down. until i get really tempted to alter mine.
