Checked my credit file (free from equifax as i've already used the free experian one)
Looks like i'm financially associated with my mum for the mortgage at equifax. Dad and i have the same name (no, i'm not called dad) so that's the bank getting confused yet again. Will get that sorted but i've also noticed that a few days after the rejection letter, the credit file was updated so they may not know about the 9.7k credit reduction.
I'm going to write an appeal letter - nothing to lose as they've already done a credit check. Will take a couple of days to plan it properly instead of just jumping in though.
Hope everyone's alright.After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Hi George
Still up I see
Sorry to hear about the norvovirus at Xmas......that's (dirty) pants:D
Hopefully you;re now fully recovered (and sylph-like) and celebrated your New Year with the rest of us ...i.e. on 1st February  (because as we all know the previous 6 weeks had been (not necessarily dirty) pants for everyone
)
Ref the CC - Have you tried the Post Office for a 0% BT? They would have been my next port of call if Barclays Premier (I have my offset/ISA's/bank account etc with them) hadn;t come up trumps (after rejecting me 6 months previously but I then knocked 2 unused MBNA and two unused storecards off my file...I am such a [STRIKE](0%BT)[/STRIKE] TART)
Am sorry to hear about the pressure at work....and that Govt delays aren;t helping ( I work in similar.......so completely understand where you;re coming from)
In fact my new "[STRIKE]pubic[/STRIKE] public sector" mantra is
"I make decisions all the time - it's when I need other people's permission that I have problems" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Don;t think I need to say anything more do I??;):rotfl:
Hugs Hun....stay strong...keep the faith
Much love

Hello everyone
Not been around much the last few days so thought i'd pop in here too now i've looked at everything else.
Been uber busy at work now that everything seems to be completing. It looks like it's all going to come together okay so got my fingers crossed right now. It's going to be hectic next week, but after that it's all out of our hands and we just need to wait for the responses to the information we put out.
Going to send off my appeal letter on Monday/Tuesday depending on the responses i get on the credit card forum. Not sure exactly what will happen, but i might be able to apply for another card in a couple of months. Got an Egg card in November and had another applciation so April may be a good time. Not sure if that's quite soon enough for the RBS balance but i'll see nearer the time what is required. Might be able to transfer to the Virgin card but they're not offering 0%
That's it for now.
Take care all. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Hope you are feeling better in yourself now George- i saw you were feeling a bit down before.
I would space out the applications- But to be honest, you never know with these companies, one will decline whilst another will accept.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Hi Bob, good to 'see' you.
Feeling better now - i think, I just have moments...
(Although sometimes they last all week).
Forgot to mention my latest wobble.
Was quite happy on the wagon, then the back wheel went over the edge - i looked over and thought - would it really be so bad? Stayed on the wagon and back on track, but it was pretty close.
All these adverts and posters for gambling and free spins/bets, no deposit required. Would it really be so bad just to try using the freebies?
Damn right it would.
Entered my details on one of the sites - twice. That was a long night. Not going to go there though.
Oh yes, bro asked if he could borrow £500 'til the end of the month as he forgot something was going to come off his card. Told him i didn't have it, so NO.
Not sure i could get a Barclaycard as it says on their site that your liability should not be more than 10% of your salary or something. Had a look at the post office as an option, but only thought about looking elsewhere after i had already applied to the BoS. Should have waited a bit longer then checked my creditfile before making any application. Lesson learned. If i were to do another credit application in March, that would be 3 in 5 months, so that may be okay - there is a month between each search and hopefully as i make all payments on time and use 'only' 41% of my available credit (don't know how Egg accepted me before i reduced the available credit), i may now be in a better position to get accepted.
I had lost some weight, put a little back on but i think i'm still down about 9/10 lbs.
Just need to work on the shape as well next timeAfter falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Aww, it must be hard for you to keep off that wagon. I am glad you recognise the signs and have been able to stop yourself.
That is worth a lot you know- so well done on that front-
Re shape wise, perhaps have a word with a personal trainer and think about what you want to do. I did take advice once, but lacked the money to go back every week. It is something i am thinking about as a goal for the future.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Hey, just thought I'd pop in and say hello... recognised your name as it jumped on my screen and thought I'd have a nosey. Hi GeorgeNot sure i could get a Barclaycard as it says on their site that your liability should not be more than 10% of your salary or something.
Just FYI, they gave me a low life of balance one a month or so ago, and I owe rather more than 10% of my salary. 6.8%, so double the transfer fee, but I've got fed up of having to juggle everything and decided that one could just stay there while I pay off the smaller debts.
Well done on deciding to stick with the wagon :grouphug:

Hey George!
Replied to you on my thread but thought id get round to saying hi after writing my book!
I fell off the wagon... no wobbly wheels... i feel so bad that if i might have landed better if i took a run and jumped!
Also APPEAL APPEAL APPEAL do it, except I'm a bit unexperienced in this unless it could harm you more why not? Anyone please tell George to ignore me if I'm being a stupid 'newbie'...do i still count as a newbie 2nd time around? :rotfl:
Quote for your page that i LOVE (West Wing)...helped me get back on the MSE :money: wagon:
"This guy's walking down the street when he falls in a hole. The walls are so steep he can't get out.
"A doctor passes by and the guy shouts up, 'Hey you. Can you help me out?' The doctor writes a prescription, throws it down in the hole and moves on.
"Then a priest comes along and the guy shouts up, 'Father, I'm down in this hole can you help me out?' The priest writes out a prayer, throws it down in the hole and moves on...
"Then a friend walks by, 'Hey, Joe, it's me can you help me out?' And the friend jumps in the hole. Our guy says, 'Are you stupid? Now we're both down here.' The friend says, 'Yeah, but I've been down here before and I know the way out.'"0
