Hi George
Oh my goodness me - a double whammy - poor you - I can;t believe we didn;t spot you (I was one of the faggers), but from your timings it appears we just kept missing each other in Edinburgh the other week.:(:(. I did see one chap early on- no badge - is your hair slightly longer than would be considered regulation crew cut and styled accordingly?
Me and the motley crew arrived at 3.30 - we then went to the German market about 5pm, came back about 6pm and us stalwart 6 who remained all went off to eat at about 7pm. Unfortunately none of us had a connection to the internet (we all have bog standard mobies with no "fripperies" as Z likes to call them). But I did write a big DFW sign to go with the cow umbrella in the pub (think it's because we were in the family room that you didnt spot us - DFW meets do tend to take place in the family rooms at Wetherspoons - hence why they are the pubs of choice- cos quite a few bring their children....well that and the cheap beer obviously
)
You and meets don;t seem to be working well together this month do they? Still 2010 is going to be so much better. For a start you are already under £16k..yay......go George go :j:j
..and you won;t put on any weight over Christmas as you will be eating to restore the weight you have lost this week with your gippy tummy. (What perfect timing says she enviously)
And at the very least, I will ensure that the piggie scouts are sent out to escort you down to chez Wol next July 20th...after all, we can't have you getting lost on the way
Hugs to you... Quite a few of us have just "folded" this week - tired and drained and gone into hibernation with the cold weather etc -batteries definitely need recharging for lots of us this year. Sounds to me like you feel the same :grouphug::grouphug:
I haven't even started getting Xmas pressies yet- and have to admit to just pottering around this last week (with the odd sudden exertion to clear the snow today so the postie doesn;t sue me for a broken leg tomorrow :rotfl::rotfl:)
I do hope your Christmas will be Ok and not full of family angst (witness your holiday). I have chosen to hole up for Xmas - will make a day trip to my parents.....but otherwise it;s just me and the piggies this year cos I just don;t have the energy to deal with the family carp
Stay cool bro'. And deffo SEE you in 2010!!

Wol, not a crew cut - short back and sides. As Elantan says though, it was a comedy farce. By the end i was basically waiting for someone to lob a custard pie.
Christmas. That was actually okay. Brother and his family came down only a little bit of shouting at each other, but less than usual and they did that upstairs. Kids seemed to have a great time and were going to stay longer with us so we could go back up North at New year with them, but mum was ill so they decided to just take the kids back with them. Night before they left i was ill too - really ill. Not been that sick for years.
I think it was a winter bug but not sure - dad was ill a couple of days later too so we brought in the new year with a glass of water. Mum said it may have been swine flu but i wasn't achy so not sure it was any type of flu. I still don't feel right but can't stay off work - folks would do their nut and it's could be getting quite busy soon on a project that i unwittingly started, but the partners in my department seem to be really excited about. If it works it could put them quite a bit ahead of the competition on getting new business so i've already been told i've not to fall in front of any busses. Timing could be very important right now but i feel totally carp.
Didn't eat for 5 days and still only taking very small amounts of food. Basically chicken and toast right now. I've lost about a stone since Christmas but am knackered all the time - wouldn't advise this diet although i still don't feel hungry.
Didn't spend quite as much as i thought i was going to at Christmas so still had £70 in the bank at the end of the month. Will keep making the payments and slowly build up a reserve again. At least next month it will be under 15k which seems like more of a milestone and will hopefully be able to shake off this funk i'm in.

Sorry to hear you have been poorly George. I thought you haven't been about as much. I agree not the best way to diet- but silver lining and all that.
Great about the balance- you must be chuffed about thatBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

George!
What an inspiration! I wish I had been on these boards and seen/followed your story. I myself have a large debt against my name and partly due to online gambling.. so much so I now have 3 loans and a credit card....
Will post properly an update to my previous post in the DFW forums..
Last Monday was a bad bad day......
Keep it going mate, if you can do it, I can!Jan 2010 stuck in 30,000 of unsecured debt tied with approx 28,000 tied up in Loans!

Hi guys, me again.
I had a dose of a Norovirus at Christmas so didn't think you would want details. Back to eating chocolate now though
I know i should be glad about the balance going down, but i still can't get any joy from that. Maybe i'm just a miserable git after all.Keep it going mate, if you can do it, I can!
Hopefully you'll be able to get sorted out too. If you haven't already done so, take a look at the ex and wannabe ex gamblers thread - the link is in my signature.
I'll have to take a look at my files to see when my loan statement should be coming through. Will hopefully be able to see if my calculations have been right about how much is owed in total. Will hopefully get a boost from going below 15k next week though.
Hope everyone's alright.
Take care guys. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

A nice early update from me
Still a few things to come off the account but this month i've breached 15k.
I've applied for a new HBoS credit card. I can still access the old one's statements online so i'm hoping they fully closed the account as requested - they did send confirmation that the account was closed. They had also said (numerous times by various staff) that there is no waiting period between closing a card and applying for a new one. I think it's been about 7 weeks so here's hoping.
My shoulder hasn't hurt since 24th December. I was walking to work, freezing, and felt tighter across the shoulders because of the cold. While i was swinging my arms it felt really tight in the left shoulder so i tried to relax it and swing my arm a little more - something went twang. It hasn't hurt since but i still can't turn my arm properly. If i put my arm straight out in front of me palm down, i can turn my hand about 100° but not palm up.
Work's been getting a bit stressful. The program i wrote for the department worked fine and we are just waiting for 3rd party to do something before we can go forward with the next stage but it looks like they're going to have a delay of about 2 weeks. I can't finish the last part until this is done and i have another program to finish which is to be used by 6 different offices. It partially requires that data too but also some calculations from legislation that the government has still to publish (also delayed by months). As soon as it comes out i'll need to finish the program but won't have much time to do it all. Just trying to tidy up loose ends right now and test it to destruction. I'm not even a programmer!
Anyhoo, it's sleepy time so i'll see if there's anything i've forgotten tomorrow.
G'night. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

I knew there was something else i was looking at.
I got my loan statemnt last year mid February so should get the next one in about 2 weeks hopefully. Everything's going to be happeneing then - checking the loan balance is as i thought, seeing if i've got a new card and everything kicking off at work (if there are no more delays). After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Just got a rejection letter from HBoS. (It was sent a week ago!)
I'll have to phone them on Monday to find out why i got rejected, just so i know if there are any problems - there shouldn't be though.
Not too sure what the next step would be.
I might try to apply for another card, but i would need to wait a few months before doing that.
No idea who to apply to though - Barclaycard say your CC debt should not be more than 10% of your income. I don't have a salary of 73k.
I'll have a look at First Direct, Abbey and BT.After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Always worth a phonecall George, but more than likely it will be - look on credit report, which tells you naff all. As in you pay everything on time and it must be their internal scoring system.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Hmmm, i forgot that HBoS and LTSB are now part of the same company. That might be the problem - only one way to find out i guess.
Must also have a look at this 0% Santander thing that's been advertised recently. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
