It's a scandal that now we can buy all these fantastic viewing gadgets for less than half the price if the TV Licence0 -

no it just means there is no RGB input so the quality is not as good, try
S-Video thats a good one I cannot see the difference
I have a Ter` Freeview box with S-Video (& RGB output) I think Sky+ does as well0 -
I bought one of these a few weeks ago, dreadful machine, menus very difficult to use Editing for required start does not show correctly on the screen, so completely useless, however you try to edit it always displays the first frame of the original recording, rang ASDA help line, who I have to say were very good, but they told me it was a 'feature', apparently the DUAL machine thay sell does not have this problem.
Got a refund without any hassle.0 -
Bought Asda's Dual DVRW1 yesterday, the set up seemed easy enough and recording from the machines own analogue tuner isn't bad however I cannot get it to record from an external source. I have a Sony integrated analogue/digital TV and when attempting to record from the TV I only pick up sound, no picture. I have phoned Asda's help line been talked through the set up twice which was the way I had done it before phoning them and now waiting for a return phone call. I the mean time have tried the DVD recorder with a freeview box, same problem, sound and no picture, also tried new scarts. The rear of my Sony has 3 scart sockets, have tried both scarts coming from the DVD recorder in various combinations, still nothing, any suggestions anyone?0

None left in Asda Peterlee. Enquired if they were being re-stocked, unhelpful assistant didn't know. More interested in chatting to a colleague. How surprising!0

Having read through this thread, I have decided that I won't go for this as I have a 32" Flatscreen Sony TV. I also have a variety of DivX things on both CD and DVD. I also need it to be multi-region. What would people recommend as the best buy for those who want an RGB input (videoplus+ optional).'Imagine something inspiring that somebody once said to you and go out there and win!'0

Is there any possibility that you need a fully wired scart lead and your lead is only partially wired?0 -
I have been trying for days to get one of these at Asda but never any stock, any coments and advice on the Alba RDVD1002 DVD recorder. at argos £79.990

Hi Superbike999, I tried switching scarts to 2 new scarts a Procon & Thompson fully wired gold plated scarts that cost about £30 each but still no luck. Still waiting for Asda's tech help to call me back. Still only receive sound & black blanc screen when on external recording source . Have phoned all Asda stores around Glasgow looking for a replacement Dual machine but all are out of stock and only have the Cyberhome & more expensive Goodmans.Other than this problem, very user friendly machine and good quality recording from its own analogue tuner.0
