Not sure about that. Noisy optical drives are common on cheap devices.

It played the same MPEG on DVD albeit noisely but that doesn't bode well imvho

  • Hi,

I've just picked one up, just burnt to DVD-r will try DVD-rw tomorrow....

Got the odd Divx CD somewhere.... ;-)

Early on, but for the money this appears to be a real bargain....

I was sad I didn't notice the £59 offer... but hey, you can't win them all....

I'll be on the hunt for an s-video cable tomorrow & and upgrade to my arial for freeview.. !

    Regards
  • Other cause of noisey drives are out-of-balance or badly made CDs / DVDs. I bought a DiVx player for a friend and it's really quite, but I stuck a purchased Frank Sinatra cd in it and it sounded like the drive was going to explode!

  • Can the Cyberhome DVD recorder connect to your Sky digital box ? Wanted to know whether it will pick up the sky digital programme listing.

  • Went ahead and purchased one from the Watford Asda, must say I'm impressed for £68 it's a bargain the picture quality and sount is excellent.

Used some cheap blankdiskshop media DVD-R works fine. I guess my video will be heading for the skip now.

It wont detect your freeview digital channels as the tuner in the cyberhome will be analogue, the only way around it is to buy a standalone freeview box and connect it to your dvd recorder via a scart cable (thus choosing the AV input on your dvd recorder when wishing to record a channel).

This will serve two purposes because you can then watch a one freeview channel whilst recording another. Whereas people who only have one freeview box and no integrated freeview in their tv sets will have to watch what they tape, unless of course they want to watch something on analogue (terrestrial, 1 - 5).

    Hope that made sense?
